The REFRAIN is Kolomeike, кoлoмийкa, a very quick duple-time dance tune, with a variable scale, popular in Ukraine for weddings and other festive occasions, often led by the violin with many smears. EPISODES are mostly sad love-songs: A. Чом ти не прийшов: a girl (Viola) sings Why did you not come and meet me in the moonlight? Wouldn't your mother let you? Dorian mode. B. Slow Waltz: I have seen this with G major accompaniment, but I have used G mixolydian: a popular mode in Ukraine.The Cello has the melody. C. O, in the cherry orchard Ой, у Вишневому Саду. A girl (Viola) sings that she begged her boyfriend to take her home from the orchard, as it was late, but he took a different girl. Mother (Violin) knows what has been going on, but is sympathetic. G minor. And D Tanietz: a very fast dance tune led by the Violin: I do not know its name. Then E a reprise of the Cherry Orchard. F.Ти ж мене підманула You tricked me and let me down.
