To A WIld Rose was originally written for solo piano as part of Edward MacDowell's Woodland Sketches. Even though the composer intended the music for solo piano, there have been numerous arrangements of this work - instrumental as well as vocal. The tune has also been used as a movie theme and even as the basis for a pop-song by Elvis Presley. This particular arrangement for String Quartet is short and sweet and unassuming - it was a special request for the seating-of-the-family at a wedding.
