VERSATILE Titles that include four parts are written with the idea that they can be performed with 1, 2, 3 or 4 musicians. Most of the contemporary/popular titles include a chord chart for a bass instrument.

PRACTICE needs would vary according to the level of the performers but my goal is to be sight-readable for most performers and groups.

LISTENABILITY I have performed thousands of weddings and special events. I make it a goal for the music to carry as well as possible through loud and large space situations.

Irishman's Heart to the Ladies and Banish Misfortune, two well-known jigs, are combined here and arranged for an Intermediate String Ensemble Trio for two violins and a cello. The second violin part is also suitable for viola. The first jig is in D Major and the second in D Mixolydian, both in 6/8 time.  Irish jigs are often played in combination and this set of two with its key change from major to mode provides a lift for dancers and listeners.  The players have fun as they pass the melody among themselves like a bouncing ball.  Separate sheets are provided for each instrument in addition to the score.

Score and parts. Londonderry Air, also known as Danny Boy, is also sung to the Gospel hymn He Looked Beyond My Faults. The cello has the melody with the violin and viola providing a counter melodic accompaniment. The performance duration is around three minutes, and phrasing has been added to encourage a legato performance. This arrangement will be a welcome repertoire addition to all High School string trios looking for new music for St Patrick's Day. The full score has three individual parts attached.
