The original Daile A Cenar, Give him dinner [to the newlywed who hasn't yet eaten], is a Ladino folk song. The main idea of the lyrics is to value the little pleasures of life, to live in the moment. In itself, it is an energetic tune, but the rhythm fits across other (mostly Sephardic) melodies as well.
This two-part variation on the folk song was written for two violas, but Viola 1 can be played on a violin and Viola 2 can be played on a cello (though the cello part is occasionally an octave below Viola 2). Scores for both violin/cello and Violas 1 and 2, as well as parts for all four players, are included. Difficulty level early intermediate.
