Mozart's Sonata in D major, K. 284, also known as the Durnitz Sonata, is a solo piano piece that was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1775. It is one of Mozart's more complex and ambitious piano sonatas and is generally regarded as one of his greatest works for the instrument.

The sonata is divided into three movements:
1.    Allegro - The first movement is a fast-paced and energetic sonata-allegro form, characterized by its lively theme and virtuosic passages. The movement begins with a bold and dramatic opening statement, followed by a series of contrasting themes and variations. The development section explores new harmonic and rhythmic territory, while the recapitulation brings the movement full circle with a restatement of the main themes.

2.    Rondeau en Polonaise - The second movement is a graceful and elegant rondo in the style of a polonaise, a popular dance of the time. The main theme is a lilting melody that is first presented by the right hand and then repeated with variations throughout the movement. The middle section features a contrasting theme in a minor key, which is then developed and expanded upon in the latter half of the movement.

3.    Theme and Variations - The final movement is a set of six variations on a theme, which is introduced at the beginning of the movement. Each variation explores a different aspect of the theme, from playful embellishments to dramatic flourishes. The final variation brings the piece to a rousing and triumphant close.
Overall, Mozart's Sonata in D major, K. 284, is a masterful example of the composer's virtuosity and innovation and remains a beloved and influential work in the piano repertoire.
 

Mozart's Sonata in D major, K. 284 is also known as the Dürnitz Sonata because it is believed to have been composed for Count Johann Joseph Anton von Dürnitz, an accomplished amateur flautist who was a patron of Mozart.

Mozart was in Munich in 1775, and he met Dürnitz there. According to Mozart's letters to his father, Dürnitz played the flute very well, and Mozart was impressed by his abilities. It is believed that Mozart composed this sonata specifically for Dürnitz, who may have performed it with Mozart accompanying him on the piano.

There is no concrete evidence to support the theory that the sonata was named after Dürnitz, but it is widely accepted as the most likely explanation for the nickname. In any case, the sonata remains one of Mozart's most popular and beloved works for solo piano.

Mozart's Five Divertimenti K. Anh. 229 are a set of five chamber pieces composed in 1772. The five pieces, K.Anh.227–231, were written for two oboes, two horns, and two bassoons, and were likely intended for a private performance. The five pieces, which are written in the traditional divertimento style, are light-hearted and filled with melodic themes and charming modulations. Each of the pieces is unique, but they are all unified by their harmonic language and Mozart's signature style.


The Divertimenti K. Anh. 229 offers a glimpse into the early compositional style of Mozart, showing a masterful understanding of classical forms and instrumentation. Each of the five pieces are charming, witty, and filled with joyful melodies. While the pieces are light-hearted and intended for a small ensemble, they still showcase Mozart's remarkable skill and compositional genius. The Divertimenti K. Si Dolce Non Sono (So sweet I am not ) is Landini's homage to French composer Philippe de Vitry, master of the sophisticated mathematical techniques of isorhythmic motet composition. It is one of his most famous works. It speaks of the sweet torment of loving someone who does not return that love.

Landini was a leading composer of 14th-century Italy, famed during his lifetime for his musical memory, skill in improvisation, and virtuosity on the organetto, or portative organ, as well as for his compositions. Landini was blinded in childhood by smallpox. His blindness did not prevent him from becoming a highly skilled and renowned musician, composer, and instrument maker. His blindness may have contributed to his prodigious memory and great skill at improvisation. He was crowned with a laurel wreath as the winner of a poetical contest at Venice in 1364.  

Landini's output, preserved in the Squarcialupi Codex, represents almost a quarter of all surviving 14th-century Italian music. He was by far the most famous composer in Italy and is considered one of the most revered composers of the second half of the 14th century.

Landini's music is characterized by lyrical, songlike melodies that possess an easy-flowing grace and are charmingly harmonized. He was the foremost exponent of the Italian Trecento style, sometimes called the Italian ars nova. His output was almost exclusively secular, and he is known for his ballet and madrigals, which were popular forms of Italian secular songs. It is assumed that he wrote the texts for many of his works.

Francesco Landini's music is characterized by its lyrical melodies, secular themes, and unique rhythms, which set him apart from his contemporaries and contributed to his enduring legacy as a composer.

Handel's Water Music is one of his most famous compositions. It was written for King George I's pleasure barge trip along the River Thames in 1717. The Water Music is divided into three suites, each containing a variety of movements. The music features a mix of dance rhythms such as minuets, bourrees, and hornpipes, along with lively fanfares and slower, more stately airs. Its combination of light and playful music with grandeur and pomp has made it one of the most beloved pieces of classical music. Water Music has been performed by many orchestras and is a popular choice for special occasions, such as coronations and weddings. Its enduring popularity has helped to make it one of Handel's most famous and beloved compositions.

Weddings during the time of Handel were usually quite extravagant affairs. The ceremony was typically held in a church and was accompanied by a full orchestra. Handel's own compositions were frequently used to provide the music for the ceremony. This was especially true in London, where Handel was based and where his music was extremely popular. Handel wrote a number of pieces specifically for use at weddings, including the popular Wedding Anthem and the Wedding Anthem in D Major. Handel's music provided a sense of grandeur and elegance to the proceedings and was often used to give the wedding an extra special touch.

The festivities following the ceremony were also often quite lavish, with a large feast and plenty of dancing. Handel's music was often used to provide the background music for the dancing, and he wrote many dance suites that were specifically designed for this purpose.
