String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.1092062 Composed by Franz Anton Hoffmeister. Arranged by Artaria Editions. Classical. Score and parts. 84 pages. Artaria Editions #696199. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1092062). For string quartet Artaria Editions AE170 Edited by Dianne James 84 pages This is a scholarly edition of a public domain work. The three Op.14 Quartets were advertised in the Wiener Zeitung on 15 January, 1791 as the composer's newest works. They were dedicated to M. Joseph de Preuer Senior, a lawyer resident in Linz. Although modest in scope and emotional depth, all three works reveal Hoffmeister as a craftsman of refined musical sensibilities. They show a clear grasp of the conversational style of the genre, as cultivated especially by his great compatriot and true master of the genre, Joseph Haydn, and reveal a kinship with the Mozartian string quartet style in their translucent scoring, harmonic richness and melodic invention. Hoffmeister's liking for third-related juxtapositions is frequently apparent, as is his awareness of the varied textural opportunities - duets and trio scoring for example - offered by the four voices. Taken together, the freshness and vitality of all three Op.14 Quartets make them extremely worthwhile additions to the repertory of 18th-century Viennese string quartets..

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1335178 Composed by Joseph Lanner (1801-1843). Arranged by Stephen Levintow. 19th Century,Chamber,Opera,Romantic Period. 55 pages. Cypress Publishing #921020. Published by Cypress Publishing (A0.1335178). Lanner, along with his colleague (and later rival) Johann Strauss the Elder, led the first great flowering of dance music specialist composers in Vienna. This wonderful curiosity is Lanner's homage to Mozart, setting some of his most famous opera melodies in waltz time, introduced by a medley of other Mozart opera hits. The finale, a waltz rendition of the overture to Die Zauberflöte, is not to be missed! The 3rd waltz includes a section where Lanner, a brilliant violinist, wrote out what sounds like the sort of improvisation he would have made in performance. It is marked with an optional cut in the arrangement.CYPRESS PUBLISHING is pleased to be the imprint for arrangements for string ensemble by Stephen Levintow. He is a free lance professional violist and violinist specializing in chamber music, who began making string quartet and trio arrangements for wedding, party and corporate events, to expand the repertory or to improve on existing versions. Selections include unusual pieces by both familiar and lesser-known composers, plus standard classical and popular favorites. The goal is to produce high-quality, musically satisfying arrangements faithful to the composer’s original material, yet sight-readable in most cases by working professionals or intermediate to advanced students. The full range of normal string technique is employed, while avoiding unnecessary technical complexity. Melodic material is distributed throughout the four voices where appropriate, to maintain listener and performer interest. All parts and scores are set in Sibelius© software format, with careful attention to legibility and page turns.
