String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1088889 Composed by Grant Horsley. Christmas,Easter,Praise & Worship,Sacred,Wedding. 21 pages. Grant Horsley #692855. Published by Grant Horsley (A0.1088889). Aria is scored for Standard String Quartet (2 violins, viola and violincello) It is a very restful melodic piece based on a single motif heard in bar 1. Written in the key of D major the piece is very hymn -like in design- with long notes and chords but has some unusual harmonies. The searing theme is stated then repeated with variation in texture. The theme is then developed using the rhythmic motif in the beginning climaxing in E major briefly before calmly returning to D major to repeat again. On this repeat more variation and articulation takes place before a restful conclusion. The range of all instruments is around two octaves with no complicated rhythms and I've tried to keep all parts interesting. and evenly balanced in terms of quantity . Bowing is left to the performers. The full score is 8 pages and parts are 3 pages each- it is roughly 5 mins 30 in length. I have set it to intermediate level but an early intermediate should be ok with some of the parts. The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability. Price is for the full score and all parts. Suitable for a variety of purposes: Concerts, Recitals, Contests, Festivals, Easter, Church services, Weddings, Sacred, Interludes, Productions or an addition to the repertoire.

String Quartet String Quartet - Digital Download SKU: A0.980596 Composed by William Grosvenor Neil. Contemporary. Score and parts. 81 pages. TheComposerStudio.Com, LLC #6565287. Published by TheComposerStudio.Com, LLC (A0.980596). Sacrum Creaturae  (2019) (score and parts) for string quartet and digital acoustic commissioned and premiered August 18th, 2021 at the Stringwood Chamber Music Festival by the Artaria String Quartet, profiles three endangered creatures: wolves, dolphins, and birds in the three movements of this string quartet. Each of the digital acoustics, the recorded and processed sounds of wolves, dolphins, and birds, explore the sounds of these creatures from three perspectives.  Canis Lupus-Nocturne developed through the exploration of wolf howls, growls, snarls, barks, and choruses. My goal in integrating the sounds of wolves with the string quartet was to make them equally passionate and expressive driving the dynamic and emotional climaxes of the music with equal intensity. Programatically, I have placed the wolves deep in the forest, in an environment that allows the string quartet to evoke the mystery and primal energy associated with these animals. I make musical references to the controversy of re-introducing these animals in the wild and the history of violent annihilation by hunters.         Delphinus-Cradlesong comprises the slow, middle movement of this piece. The cradlesong is literal and is inspired by the recent discovery by marine scientists that a mother dolphin will sing to its unborn calf so that it bonds with the mother and is familiar with her voice after birth. I have essentially orchestrated my Cradlesong for solo piano for string quartet and the whistling sounds of a mother dolphin singing to its calf. The final movement, 21 Birds, incorporates the bird calls of 21 birds in the Driftless region of the upper Mississippi, integrated with the thematic music of the string quartet. I treat the birds as 21 soloists and as an orchestra of birds accompanying the quartet. In the performance with the quartet, I have employed various special effects, such as reverberation, echo, and delay to blend the two acoustics. String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1313969 By Hugh Levey. By Gustav Holst. Arranged by Hugh Levey. 20th Century,Advent,Christmas,Holiday,Religious. 14 pages. Woodwindly.com #902696. Published by woodwindly.com (A0.1313969). String Quartet In the Bleak Mid-Winter is a popular Christmas Carol which has been set to music by both Gustav Holst and Harold Darke. This string quartet arrangement is based on the Holst version and combines the composer's beautifully simple harmony with the arranger's own counter-melodies and intricate part writing. Lovely writing for all instruments. An ideal work for Christmas concert programming. This is a through-composed instrumental arrangement that explores the melody and harmonies of the Holst hymn in 3 differently arranged verses. After a short introduction the first verse uses Holst’s original 4-part harmonisation in its beautiful simplicity, with the first violin playing the melodic line. In verse 2, the viola presents the tune in a lower register while the 'cello plays a Baroque style ‘walking bass’. The violins weave countermelodies above them, introducing new material for a Pachelbel-like interlude of an ascending sequence - bringing the music to a climax before subsiding into verse 3. Here a slightly ornamented version of the tune returns with the new material continuing in the bass line. After another smaller climax we return to the original Holst as the work ends quietly and thoughtfully.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1416344 Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 19th Century,Chamber,Contest,Festival,Historic,Romantic Period. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #998025. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1416344). Brahms composed this short piano piece in 1853, when he was around 20 years old, as a contribution to a guest album. It was recently rediscovered and published in an Urtext edition. The piece has a pastoral, four-bar central theme featuring parallel thirds in the hands, giving it an orchestral character. The B section becomes more transparent, with the parallel thirds disappearing. Brahms later reused the theme of the Albumblatt in the Trio section of the Scherzo movement of his Horn Trio Op. 40, composed around 12 years later. This reworking shows the composer expanding on his original idea and making it richer and more satisfying in his mature work. The Albumblatt is considered an early, relatively simple composition compared to Brahms' three piano sonatas written that same year. However, it is still a valuable example of the young composer's genius. The main editorial issue is the unexpected piano marking in measure 47, which seems out of place for achieving a melodic climax and may have been a mistake by Brahms.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1506113 Composed by Louis Moreau Gottschalk. Arranged by Marc Donatelle. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical,Folk,Multicultural,World. 32 pages. Marc Donatelle #1081485. Published by Marc Donatelle (A0.1506113). Gottschalk wrote the Marche Des Gibaros in 1857. It is a patrol march in that it is based on repetition of thematic material, starting softly, building to a big climaxwith a change of key, and subsiding softly into the sunset. Gibaros are Puerto Rican peasants, and this melody with its complex rhythms is an original folk song.GIbaros transcribes well from the original piano composition to a string quartet.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.584653 Composed by Jeff Tincher. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 19 pages. Jeff Tincher #6017667. Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.584653). This begins with a 7/4 time signature in A minor. The initial passage was created to sound like an industrial region in a run-down town. The machines continue to progress until the complete building is running like a well-oiled machine, to quote a anecdote. As it continues the business runs smooth like a waltz in 3/4 time. For a moment the initial passage returns before a climax in A major. The finale concludes as the day ends with the original passage returning in 7/4 time as the business closes for the day. Duration = 4:00. Hear the full version of composition on Jeff Tincher's For String Quartet CD. Score and parts. 8 pages. Published by Pietro Prugna (A0.498004). This arrangement of this beautiful piece for String Quartet starts with a still and quiet reflective mood. It heightens to a climax when the oceans rise and thunders roar with a strong intensity underlying the slow tempo. Tension chords are added in this arrangement. It finally ends on a quiet peace again. This song and arrangement is nice at church services (such as before and after services, or during Holy Communion) and Christian weddings The pdf contains Full Score for String Quartet and Set of Parts (Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello).

String Quartet Cello,Double Bass,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.798118 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Inacio Saldanha. Classical,Concert,Standards,World. Score and parts. 15 pages. Inacio Saldanha #6252921. Published by Inacio Saldanha (A0.798118). The Turkish March (Marcia alla turca) is a well-known classical march theme by Ludwig van Beethoven. It was written in the Turkish style popular in music of the time. The theme was first used in Beethoven's Six Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 76, of 1808. In 1811, Beethoven wrote an overture and incidental music to a play by August von Kotzebue called The Ruins of Athens (Op. 113), which premiered in Pest in 1812. The Turkish March appears as movement four of the incidental music. Many music lovers associate the theme with The Ruins of Athens, although that was not its original appearance. The march is in Bâ™ major, tempo vivace and 2/4 time. Its dynamic scheme is highly suggestive of a procession passing by, starting out pianissimo, poco a poco rising to a fortissimo climax and then receding back to pianissimo by the coda. Unlike much of Beethoven's other orchestral music, the woodwinds are the dominant voice rather than the strings. (Wikipedia)Arranged for String Quintet. Key of Bb. Intermediate.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1474698 Composed by Johannes Brahms (1833-1897). Arranged by Stephen Levintow. 19th Century,Romantic Period. 24 pages. Cypress Publishing #1052264. Published by Cypress Publishing (A0.1474698). Johannes Brahms is best known for his symphonies, concerti and large scale chamber works, but his catalog of over 200 Lieder shows he was also a master of small forms and intimate expression. Wiegenlied (Lullaby), included in this set of arrangements for string quartet, is one of the best known and most loved melodies ever written. His original gently syncopated accompaniment, reproduced here, makes an elegant backdrop for it. The set opens with Sapphische Ode (Sapphic Ode), whose title is not directly connected to the ancient Greek poet Sappho of Lesbos, but refers to the verse form of the poem Brahms set, that bears her name. The melody resembles the theme of the slow movement from Brahms’s violin concerto, written a few years earlier. Following it is Wenn du nur zuweilen lächelst (If you only sometimes smile), a fine example of the mood of longing and melancholy that Brahms often depicted in both songs and instrumental music. The music moves back and forth between major and minor, and the flowing 9/8 meter occasionally varies the 3+3+3 pulse to 2+2+2+3 in a natural-seeming way.Brahms never wrote an opera, but Von ewiger Liebe (Of Eternal Love), which builds from a somber opening, through a stormy middle section to a powerful climax, gives us a sense of what a Brahms operatic scene, in this case a love duet, might have sounded like. It is one of his most famous songs, and rightly so.CYPRESS PUBLISHING is pleased to be the imprint for arrangements for string ensemble by Stephen Levintow. He is a free lance professional violist and violinist specializing in chamber music, who began making string quartet and trio arrangements for wedding, party and corporate events, to expand the repertory or to improve on existing versions. Selections include unusual pieces by both familiar and lesser-known composers, plus standard classical and popular favorites. The goal is to produce high-quality, musically satisfying arrangements faithful to the composer’s original material, yet sight-readable in most cases by working professionals or intermediate to advanced students. The full range of normal string technique is employed, while avoiding unnecessary technical complexity. Melodic material is distributed throughout the four voices where appropriate, to maintain listener and performer interest. All parts and scores are set in Sibelius© software format, with careful attention to legibility and page turns.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1119327 Composed by Anon. Arranged by Robert Luke Thompson. Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Renaissance,Traditional. 10 pages. Monkspath Music #720741. Published by Monkspath Music (A0.1119327). Gaudete! is Christmas carol, believed to originate from the 16th Century. It was published widely in 1582 in the collection of sacred songs known as Piae Cantiones. Whilst the plainchant for the refrain (Gaudete) is clearly published, there is much debate as to where the melody for the verses came from. To preserve the plainchant style of the verses, each member of the quartet has a solo verse – with a few alterations made to preserve each instrument’s unique voice. An additional refrain is included to create a suitable crescendo towards the climax of the piece – highlighting the meaning of Gaudete! (Rejoice!) This version is suitable for quartets of any level, especially those who desire an easily legible and flexible arrangement, ready for a Christmas concert, carol service, or other event. String Quartet String Quartet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.731792 Composed by Turlough O Carolan. Arranged by Thomas Quigley. Celtic,Classical,Concert,Holiday. Score and parts. 7 pages. Thomas Quigley #3387321. Published by Thomas Quigley (A0.731792). Mostly easy, except for a few bars near the end, this delicate but moving O Carolan composition is very skillfully arranged, and would be well suited for performance by a student quartet. The style is classical and players will enjoy the interesting devices used in the piece. A sublime climax point is heard before the final sustained chord. This tasteful arrangement would be much appreciated by the many enthusiasts for Irish music in general and O Carolan in particular.
