This song’s form is simple, but it has really fun vocal line solos for all the instruments, snazzy synthesizer solos featured by the violins, and a great beat, which the cello and viola hold down.  The arrangement starts with an intro using only the top 3 voices, imitating the feel of the original music video which starts with the four Abba singers singing acapella.  Following the intro, viola and cello team up playing the “Take a Chance� rhythmic figure, emulating the chanted words from the original track, while the violins play the melody in duet form. The viola takes the melody on the first half of the verse, while the cello hugs the bass line and violins hang out on discreet descants and counter melodies. The cello then wails the melody on the second half of the verse, with a brief section in tenor clef.  The song repeats and fades out on the chorus.  Bowings and rehearsal letters are included for ease of sight-reading, ideal for gigging performances. This version has been arranged a half step down (the original song was written in B Major, and I adjusted the key to B-flat Major so that it’s a bit friendlier to string players).

The arrangement features each instrument taking turns with the melody, counter melody, and motor. With the purchase, you will receive a 10x17 tabloid full score (6 pages), letter size score (6 pages), violin I part (4 pages), violin 2 part (3 pages), viola part (3 pages), and cello part (3 pages). Total is 23 pages and the approx. run time of the piece is 2min 45seconds to 3minutes. About the arrangement: The arrangement is primarily written in 6/8, but features some metric modulation (going from dotted quarter 63 to quarter note 126bpm for example). This gives the piece a dramatic sense of escalation as it reaches the final passage. Each player will have his or her time to shine in the arrangement. Also, various playing techniques are used such as ricochet (on open strings), legato, marcato, spicc. It is all written in a way to maximize the virtuosic sound while maintaining a comfortability and playability. The introduction begins in a somewhat solemn nature, building in tension and then in repose where it introduces the hymn Savior Like A Shepherd Lead Us. The texture is in a traditional harmonization with the tune in the first violin where it gives over to the cello on the chorus with gentle punctuations in the upper voices. An imitative motif serves as a transition progresses leading into He Leadeth Me with the tune in the cello. The violin takes over with a modified tune and then in a fughetta-like series of entrances leads into a modulation where the cello expresses the tune with the upper voices accompanying with moving rhythms. The tune of All The Way My Savior Leads Me is presented by the viola with a violin obbligato overhead leading into a full ensemble with rich and moving harmonies. A change of meters gives way to a change of counterpoint and God Leads Us Along. Here, it moves amongst the various parts and gives way to sweet release.
