String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.991481 Composed by Michelangelo Rodriguez. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 108 pages. Michelangelo Rodriguez Music #2968035. Published by Michelangelo Rodriguez Music (A0.991481). Program Note: Affects, written in 2016, is a piece for string quartet that depicts the human emotions of grief, fear, anger, and sadness. Grief is a moderate paced movement where the different instruments respond to the loss of bond and affection in the human condition. Fear begins with a solo cello line that experiments with tonality. Each instrument is introduced with the same line, essentially building up the tension and confusion that is caused when humans exhibit fear. Anger uses a quick, rushed tempo similar to the fast, exerted force that is caused when humans express anger. Often, humans find themselves acting before they think, which is how the instruments interact with each other in this movement. The string quartet culminates in a slow, brooding movement, Sadness, where the themes are exhibited and built upon in a contrapuntal motion. Humans express sadness with misery, which is shown in the heavy lines of the instruments. The piece ends with a sense of hope, only to be crushed with the sadness that everyone eventually experiences, fading away into nothingness. Duration: c. 18 minutesFor more information, please visit www.michelangelorodriguez.com

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1466467 Composed by Frédéric Chopin, Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. 19th Century,Classical,Romantic Period,Wedding. 13 pages. Rob Bushnell #1045049. Published by Rob Bushnell (A0.1466467). Written by Frédéric Chopin, the Waltz No. 13 (opus 70, no. 3) was written in 1829, whilst the composer was still living in Warsaw, Poland, and was published, posthumously, with two other waltzes in 1855.The trio section, the low melody that begins this part was said to be inspired by Chopin’s crush on the young singer, Konstancja G?adkowska. However, a letter (3 October 1829) to Tytus Woyciechowski, an early friend (and possibly lower) of Chopin’s, reads: “How sweet it would be for me to play it for you, dearest Tytus. In the trio, the bass line should dominate up to the high E-flat of the upper half of the keyboard in the 5th bar […]. Forgive me for sending you the waltz, which perhaps will make you angry at me, but upon my word I wanted to give you pleasure with it, because I love you madly.”A recording of the original composition can be found here on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WBfbPlDM2k.
