It is used the name of the now attributed composer Christian Petzold for there is new information about him. The Minuet II in G minor (that follows the most famous Minuet I) is included in this arrangement but is only optional for the performers to play.  The harmony and melodies are kept the same as the original with just a little new counterpoint in the same style. This arrangement, unlike others, tends to balance peaceful and quite parts in a choral fashion with rhythmical parts to get a more interesting work, thus, avoiding being rhythmical all the time. The third movement, cold and open, looks back at our short time on Earth through the eyeglass of eternity, showing what little impact our chaotic existence has on the grand scheme of things in an infinitely vast universe. A cello cadenza signals the arrival of the final movement which, in contrast to the third, shows our impact on the universe as we are shown the impacts of what we leave behind and left with a singular question: Did our actions matter, or did we fail to leave our mark on an infinite universe?

Your students and audience will both have lots of fun, and this is really effective in recruitment concerts as well. The piece starts with some percussive stomps and slaps that sound great on stage and are instantly recognizable. The 6/8 meter may be a challenge if your students haven't played in that rhythmic space before, but the familiarity of the song will help. The song is squarely in D harmonic minor, and as such gives a good opportunity to practice F natural, B flat, and low C# fingerings. This piece is a blast and I know your students will enjoy playing it.
