String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.799117

By Dwight Yoakam. By Freddie Mercury and Frederick Mercury. Arranged by Dan Sanchez. Rock. Score and parts. 16 pages. Dan Sanchez #4776459. Published by Dan Sanchez (A0.799117).

This arrangement of Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen for String Quartet can also be performed with a String Trio, since the 2nd Violin part is optional. Your listeners will love this toe-tapping tune, so much so that you might get an air-guitarist joining you on the side!

While the 1st Violin gets most of the melody on this, there is a pretty sweet Viola solo part, so your violist can channel their inner Brian May.  2nd Violin has some counterpoint, and Cello has a smooth walking bass line.  And everybody swings!

One thing that sets my arrangements apart from others is that I fit all of my parts on 2 sheets of music.  This makes it so the songs can fit into a binder, without the need for flipping pages!

Another great thing is that I include cue lines on each part, so that every player in the ensemble can see one other person’s music at the same time.  This is so amazingly useful and has saved countless performances in the past.  If someone skips a beat or misses a measure, you can now see where they are and reconnect! This also helps with sight-reading and keeping the group together in general.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.785974

By Queen. By Freddie Mercury and Frederick Mercury. Arranged by Adapted and arranged by Andrew R. Guarrine. Rock. Score and parts. 29 pages. GuarrineMusic #3875521. Published by GuarrineMusic (A0.785974).

Speaking of Queen, I had to do an adaptation of this classic (also performed by Dwight Yoakam), but it just wouldn't work with a quartet, so here it is for ..(enter fanfare!!)  a DOUBLE QUARTET!! (with an optional bass to replace the 2nd cello part.) Written in a shuffle feel, it works on swing 8th-notes, syncopation and finger snapping!  Cello 2 (pizz) goes down to the open C, Vln. 1 only up to F natural. Contains many accidentals, but very playable by the end of the 2nd year.  Great one for your end of the year performance.
Key of D major/ Grade 2  Vln. 1,2,3,4  Vla. 1,2  'cello 1, 2 (opt. cb.).

By Dwight Yoakam. By Freddie Mercury and Frederick Mercury. Arranged by Dury Loveridge. Rock. Score and parts. 13 pages. Dury Loveridge #3564193. Published by Dury Loveridge (A0.752614).

Queen's massive 1979 hit 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love', which Freddie Mercury later claimed to have written in 'just five to ten minutes'. Still a hugely popular song, it's perfect for weddings and functions. This version is faithful to the original, with the inner parts driving that shuffle guitar riff. The cello part can be optional pizz, if you want a true double bass sound too. Arranged by professional cellist and arranger Dury Loveridge.

By Dwight Yoakam. By Freddie Mercury. Arranged by Diego Marani. Contemporary,Instructional,Pop,Rock,Standards. Score and parts. 10 pages. Diego Marani #6094483. Published by Diego Marani (A0.528497).

Crazy Little Thing Called Love is a song by the British rock band Queen. Written by Freddie Mercury in 1979, the track is included on their 1980 album The Game, and also appears on the band's compilation album, Greatest Hits in 1981. The song was written as a tribute to Elvis Presley (with influences rockabilly-swing). Having composed Crazy Little Thing Called Love on guitar, Mercury played rhythm guitar while performing the song live, which was the first time he played guitar in concert with Queen.

This arrangement for string quartet (Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello) is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.
