String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.866856 Composed by Early American Folk Song. Arranged by Erik Kihss. Christian,Folk,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 16 pages. Erik Kihss Digital Publishing #4885477. Published by Erik Kihss Digital Publishing (A0.866856). This hymn tune is early American, composer unknown. The text for There's a Wideness.... has been set to several other melodies, most notably Wellesley but I found this version in the Evangelical Lutheran Church hymnal (ELW 588) and was attracted by the pentatonic folk melody. This setting incorporates Coplanesque harmonies and some bluegrass-like violins. The tune is also sometimes known as Lord Revive Us.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548635 Composed by Mueller. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas. 7 pages. Jmsgu3 #3405927. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548635). Away in a Manger arranged for string quartet with a re-harmonization for the final verse. Very easy to play and easy on the ear. Away in a Manger is a popular Christmas song published in the late 19th century and performed worldwide. In England, it is considered one of the two most popular carols of all time; a 1996 poll ranked it as a tie for second place. To begin with, many thought Martin Luther wrote it, but now the song is considered American. The most common musical arrangements are by William Kirkpatrick (1895) and James R. Murray (1887). The melody was first published as Luther's Cradle Hymn by James R. Murray. Then came a confusing series of explanations about how Martin Luther wrote the song. Murray even went so far as to suggest that Luther wrote it for his children. As a result, the music has become known as Mueller. Nobody knows who this Mueller is, but the name stuck. Popularity By the 1880's the cradle song was being performed in church. By the 1990's the song was becoming the most popular Christmas song ever. Nearly everyone sang it in school, in church, and at home. Other musical settings The first musical setting published with the lyrics appeared in the Little Children's Book for Schools and Families (1885). The title was Away in a Manger. This edition is the first one not attributing the song to Martin Luther. Charles H. Gabriel was the first arranger to present the third verse. He also composed and published many different arrangements of the music. In one of his settings, he supplies a chorus for each verse with asleep sung in canon. Another prevalent preparation uses the lyrics to the melody Flow Gently, Sweet Afton. Yet another arrangement uses the songs to an old Normandy carol.Ā

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.753639 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by John Hoesly. Contemporary,Film/TV,Folk. 19 pages. PRS&B #5218597. Published by PRS&B (A0.753639). Wayfaring Stranger- for string quartet with optional bass. Traditional American Folk Song arranged by John Hoesly. Also known as Poor Wayfaring Stranger and I Am A Poor Wayfaring Stranger, this song probably originated in the early 19th century.  It has been recorded numerous times, but most significantly appears in the 2019 film 1917 where a soldier sings this plaintive melody to his fellow comrades just before going into battle. This arrangement is divided into two sections.  Section one is a very haunting scenario, very plain with insistent harmonic devices. The second section is a more elaborate version with more harmonic movement and tempo extensions to create more drama.  It ends as plaintively as it begins.

Score and parts. 9 pages. Inacio Saldanha #5030355. Published by Inacio Saldanha (A0.798086). Can't Help Falling in Love is a 1961 song recorded by American singer Elvis Presley for the album Blue Hawaii (1961). It was written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss and published by Gladys Music, Inc.[2] (The melody is based on Plaisir d'amour, a popular French love song composed in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Ɖgide Martini). The song was initially written for a woman as Can't Help Falling in Love with Him, which explains the first and third line ending on in and sin rather than words rhyming with you. Can't Help Falling in Love was featured in Presley's 1961 film Blue Hawaii. During the following four decades, it has been recorded by numerous other artists, including Bob Dylan on his 1973 album Dylan, Tom Smothers, Swedish pop group A-Teens, and the British reggae group UB40, whose 1993 version topped the U.S. and UK charts.
