Its popularity as a piece of light music and as a theme tune was further enhanced when lyrics were added in English and in several other European Languages.

The piece follows an exhibition structure. Subject 1 (bars 1~10) starts with longer duration rhythms, building up the dynamics over time, and keeping the texture thin at first. The bridge (bars 11~20) modulates from F major to C major, using scales and sequences. Subject 2 (bars 21~29) starts with a new melody (or antecedent and consequent phrases), a texture change, and a smooth transition into the codetta. The codetta (bars 30~42) uses perfect cadence to emphasize the key and eventually ends on the tonic.
