Here, There and Everywhere, by the Beatles epitomises the melodicism of Paul McCartney. This arrangement for string quartet pares back the accompaniment to really bring out the lyrical but angular melody, whilst adding in extra melodic elements and utilising the existing counter-melodies. As a song it lends itself to a jazzy approach; I've kept to the mostly diatonic harmony of the original so it feels naïve and nostalgic in equal measure, and there's also elements of the baroque, which feels appropriate given that McCartney cites The Beach Boys' God Only Knows as a key inspiration for the song. The bridge also references the stab-stab string technique that George Martin stole from Bernard Herman's Psycho score and used extensively in his arrangements for the Beatles.
The melody is equally shared around and parts are fully bowed. The short duration would make it ideal for an encore piece.
