“Lough Lene,†named for a picturesque lake in Ireland, is a lyrical ballad influenced by the lush sounds of traditional Irish music. The pure diatonic harmonic setting is enriched with the use of suspensions and added ninth chords, while the sparing inclusion of grace notes in the melody recalls the improvised ornamentation characteristic of the genre.
