This rollicking one-minute round is inspired by Dr. Daniel Dye's three-part arrangements of this nursery rhyme tune. We've lost the names of the three specific politicians he had in mind, but the music is still a heap of fun to realize, especially in view of the dizzying political times in which we live. 

I've written in a possible repeat for each part. If you want to drive everybody crazy, not least of all the poor saps tasked with playing this piece, feel free to repeat as many times as you want, exiting the musical roundabout only when everybody's good and dizzy.

In 1882, Tchaikovsky considered creating a concert suite out of numbers from his marvelous ballet Swan Lake, which he had composed six years previously. However, he seems not to have made a final decision, and the authorship of the concert suite published after his death as Op.20a is unknown.

In this arrangement for string quartet  we have the very famous seventh number of the suite: Neapolitan Dance (Danse Napolitaine). It is suitable for any occasion: repertorie, classroom, recital and for an amazing encore  with the characteristic tarantella rhythm.

During his short lifetime Schubert composed prolifically in many genres.  His original composition of Marche Militaire was for 'four hands' or two Pianos, and all arrangements, including this one, usually present only the first part of the first of three marches that comprise the complete work (Trois Marches Militaire, Op.51).  Among the devices used by Schubert is clever decoration of the opening and closing unison phrases which are suggestive of a bugle call.

J.S. Bach's Eight Little Preludes & Fugues, BWV 553-560, are a set of organ pieces composed between 1720 and 1723. They are composed in the Baroque style and show Bach's mastery of the form. The pieces consist of a prelude followed by a fugue, and are short and compact in form. The preludes are mostly in a two-part contrapuntal style, with occasional triplets and dotted rhythms adding variety and interest. The fugues are more complex and show Bach's ability to write complex counterpoint and intricate contrapuntal textures. These pieces are great for both teaching and performing, and provide a wonderful introduction to Bach's music.

J. S. Bach's Six Little Preludes BWV 933-938 were composed during the Baroque period. The preludes are in the key of C major and are among Bach's most famous works. They are short pieces, each lasting about two minutes in duration. Each prelude is a miniature, self-contained piece with its own musical ideas and themes. The preludes demonstrate Bach's mastery of counterpoint and his ability to create complex, interesting musical textures. The first prelude is simple and joyful, while the second prelude features a fugue. The third prelude is a chromatic, slightly more serious piece. The fourth prelude is a bright, joyful piece with a lot of counterpoint. The fifth prelude is quiet and contemplative, and the sixth is more lively and upbeat. These preludes provide an excellent example of Bach's mastery of the Baroque style.
