String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1156628 By Silo String Quartet. By Haydn Reeder. Chamber,Contemporary. 13 pages. Haydn Brett Reeder #756950. Published by Haydn Brett Reeder (A0.1156628). This is the third of three pieces for string quartet and therefore acts as a finale. Numbers I and II are titled 'Moving Between' and 'Breathing' respectively and all three are available on this site. Any one of these may be performed separately or the three movements can be played as a set. On occasions the textures of 'Drama' hark back to those heard in 'Moving Between', however in the latter there is transitional material between textures, be they melodic or chordal. Here, transitions are absent andcontrasts are starker, being produced by opposites such as slow and fast speeds, symmetrical and asymmetrical harmonies, porous and thick textures and sound and noise.

String Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.918906 By Jubal's Lyre Music. By Johann Pachelbel, Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Martin Dicke. Baroque,Christian,Classical,Contest,Festival,Sacred. 24 pages. Jubal's Lyre Music Publishers #6567613. Published by Jubal's Lyre Music Publishers (A0.918906). Here is a compelling setting of Martin Luther’s hymn A Mighty Fortress Is Our God (EIN FESTE BURG) by Johann Pachelbel (1653-1750). Originally composed for organ, it has been arranged for String Quartet or String Ensemble with optional keyboard. Two harmonizations of the isometric version of the hymn are also provided. The first is a standard harmonization found in many hymnals. The second is based on the concluding Chorale of Cantata 80 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Including the music of both Bach and Pachelbel, this arrangement serves as an excellent introduction to the music of the Baroque era and the contributions of great Lutheran composers. It also provides opportunities to discuss the time of the Reformation. For worship the arrangement can be played alone or it can be used to accompany congregational singing. Additional arrangements are available for Brass, Woodwind Quintet, and Concert Band. For more music and information, visit www.jubalslyre.com/music.

Arioso from Concerto N.5 in F moll for Harpsichord and Strings-BWV 1056 it is actually second movement of this concerto and original tempo is Largo. Actually original harpsichord solo part is a little bit difficult for metrically counting and that is the reason that this arrangement is with tempo Adagio with different counting. It is easier for First Violin player. This piece is very useful for all type of Events, like Wedding,Anniversary etc.Enjoy it!

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1498820 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Christian,Christmas,Historic,Traditional. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #1074992. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1498820). Infant Holy, Infant Lowly is an important Christmas carol with several notable aspects: Origins and History. This carol originated as a Polish Christmas hymn from the 16th century called W ??obie Le?y. It is believed to have been written by Piotr Pow?ski, a Polish Jesuit priest and preacher born in 1532. Edith Margaret Gellibrand Reed, who discovered it in a Polish hymnal published in 1908, later translated it into English in 1920.Musical CharacteristicsThe carol exemplifies some typical features of Polish religious songs: Strophic formMonophonic melodyAsymmetrical time signaturesAmbiguous modality that shifts between major, minor, and modal qualitiesThese musical elements give the carol a distinctive Polish flavor while still accessible to English-speaking audiences. Lyrical ContentThe lyrics poetically describe the nativity scene, contrasting Christ's humble birth circumstances with his divine nature: First Verse:Infant holy, infant lowly, for his bed a cattle stall;Oxen lowing, little knowing Christ the babe is Lord of all. This verse emphasizes the paradox of the incarnation - the Lord of all creation born in a lowly stable.Cultural SignificanceAs one of the few Polish carols widely known in English, Infant Holy, Infant Lowly is an essential cultural bridge. It introduces English-speaking audiences to the rich tradition of Polish Christmas music, known as kol?dy. The carol's popularity helps preserve and share an aspect of Polish Christmas traditions internationally. In summary, Infant Holy, Infant Lowly is important for its historical origins, distinctive musical qualities, poetic lyrics, and role in sharing Polish Christmas culture with a broader audience.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011395 Composed by Derek Larson. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 19 pages. Derek Larson #3245559. Published by Derek Larson (A0.1011395). This is a medley of three moods from Big Sky Country for string quartet. The first part evokes the sound of tuning up the band for the hoedown. The second part paints a picture of an amazing Big Sky sunset viewed from the back porch. The last part is the dance itself. All three join together to form a picture of the amazing beauty of the Montana way of life and the scenery that draws people back over and over again or encourages them to stay forever. https://youtu.be/PQ_jjseW0rwThe third part contains complicated metrical devices and the first and last parts require whatever fiddle-like emphasis and technique the performers can add. Bowings are just suggestions.

String Quartet String Quartet - Digital Download SKU: A0.1010908 Composed by Thomas Timothy Lenk. 20th Century. Score and parts. 22 pages. Thomas Timothy Lenk #3063127. Published by Thomas Timothy Lenk (A0.1010908). Composition of this work began with the middle movement in Boulder, Colorado. It is straightforward, harmonious and melodic. The second movement, composed in Utrecht, Holland. It is energetic with some challenging metrical changes. The sedate final movement, composed in Boulder, Colorado, is structured around the tritone articulated as a dyad and separate pitches. The melodic aspect of the movement takes several interesting and, perhaps, unexpected turns.

Carol of the Bells is a well-known Christmas carol with a rich history rooted in Ukrainian culture. Here are the key points to understand about this iconic piece:Original Composition: The melody of Carol of the Bells is derived from a Ukrainian folk song called Shchedryk, which Mykola Leontovych composed in 1914. Shchedryk, which translates to The Little Swallow, was originally a New Year's song celebrating the arrival of spring and good fortune.Cultural Context: The song's origins are tied to Ukrainian traditions, where it was sung by young girls going door-to-door on New Year's Eve, wishing families prosperity and good luck for the coming year. The swallow in the song symbolizes the arrival of spring and abundance.English Lyrics: In 1936, American composer Peter Wilhousky adapted the melody for Christmas, writing new lyrics that emphasized bells and Christmas cheer themes. This version transformed Shchedryk into Carol of the Bells, quickly gaining popularity in the United States and becoming a staple of Christmas music.Musical Structure: The carol features a distinctive four-note ostinato and is metrically bistable, allowing listeners to perceive the rhythm differently. It is typically arranged in 3/4 time and has a lively and festive feel, contributing to its widespread appeal.Widespread Adaptations: Carol of the Bells has been recorded in over 150 versions across various musical genres, including classical, jazz, rock, and heavy metal. Notable adaptations include those by Mannheim Steamroller and John Williams, which have helped to cement its status as a Christmas classic.Cultural Significance: The song's association with Christmas has overshadowed its Ukrainian roots, leading to a complex relationship with its cultural identity. In recent years, there has been a movement to reclaim Shchedryk as a significant part of Ukrainian heritage, especially amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.Modern Recognition: The song is frequently featured in films, television shows, and holiday concerts, making it a beloved part of the Christmas season. Its ability to evoke joy and nostalgia resonates with audiences worldwide. In summary, Carol of the Bells is not just a Christmas carol but a piece with deep cultural roots and a fascinating history of transformation from a Ukrainian folk song to a global holiday favorite.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1030368 Composed by Sam Wibowo. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 14 pages. Sam Wibowo #6254985. Published by Sam Wibowo (A0.1030368). Moles is a 4 minute string quartet which roots from two main concepts: (More famously,) Bach’s and Shostakovich’s musical cryptography and Elgar’s enigma. Hence, the name of the work is something to only be understood by the composer. The main harmonic motif comes from SA(MU)E(L) (WI)B(OWO) which then equates to E-flat, A, E-natural and B-flat which enharmonically become notes of two diminished chords. This motific process has also been done for 4 other people, which is to remain unknown. The development and the interaction between each motif represent and symbolise personal stories along with its rhythmic, harmonic, and expressive aspects such as bar numbers, inversions of chosen chords, and expression markings. The harmonic material throughout the work remains unstable, struggling to find functioning consonance. On the other hand, the rhythmic framework remains fairly stable and metrically comfortable, compensating for the instability of the harmonic material. Insight into the first 19 bars: The opening can be seen to canonically imitate, stating the main harmonic motif (E-flat, A, E-natural and B-flat) throughout the 4 string instruments. Each 5 roman numerals introduce each inversion, since 4 more inversions can fit into an octave before completing the cycle. Furthermore this represents the other 4 people in the piece all linking back to me, calming the rhythmic and harmonic variety through the gradual making of the chord: E-flat, E-natural, B-flat and A.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1155519 Composed by Haydn Reeder. Chamber,Contemporary. 4 pages. Haydn Brett Reeder #755813. Published by Haydn Brett Reeder (A0.1155519). Students and professionals alike will enjoy this straightforward piece. The main thing is to take care of the tuning of the double-stops. There is obvious reference to the title in the repeated time signatures, the dynamics and the thick texture. This movement, the second of a set of three,is quite short, probably because the opening harmony has a strong presence either by interrupting or becoming a point of return and also, being a symmetrical chord, has a calming effect within other contexts.
