The song was composed by Paul Mccartney in collaboration with John Lennon and British musician Donovan. It was released in 1966 and is featured on the album Revolver. The song talks about a yellow boat that sails through fantastic seas. The idea was to create a children's song for the band's drummer, star Ringo, to sing. However, due to the psychedelic result placed on the song, it took on a different context.
