Tenor and string quartet - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6385 Auf Texte aus der Bibel. Composed by Naji Hakim. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 7 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6385. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6385). German • English. This piece shows my hope to have our churches not only in peace but also in full communion. Naji Hakim Die Taube (The Dove) was commissioned by â€Kirchenmusik bei St. Anna Augsburg†to celebrate the 450th anniversary of the Augsburger Religionsfrieden (Religious peace of Augsburg). It is based on three biblical verses related to peace : Gen. 8/11, Luk. 1/79, Joh. 14/27. The music is through composed and develops the character of the verses with contrasted string textures, putting in relief the expressive vocal line, declamation of light and happiness. The work exists in three versions : 1. for Tenor and string quartet, 2. for Tenor and string orchestra, 3. for Tenor and organ. First performance : by Robert Sellier, Tenor, Capella St. Anna Streichquartett, St. Anna Augsburg, Festkonzert zum Hohen Friedensfest, 8 August 2005. Gen.8/11 : â€And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off. †Luk. 1/79 : â€To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. †Joh.14/27 : â€Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. †...to guide our feet into the way of peace. (Luke 1,79) Words and music bind people together to form fellowships which guide us into the way of peace. Singing or playing together combine bodies and souls, so that our rhythm and breathing becomes one - a sense of belonging to one another is created which instils the very nature of peace. So it is that by becoming an integral part of the music, our feet are guided 'into the way of peace'. In Luke chapter 1, both Maria and Zechariah are carried away, body and soul, in hymns of thanksgiving. They let God´s melody resound in their bodies. Ignatius, one of the Early Fathers of the Church, might have drawn his inspiration from them when he wrote to the Christians of Ephesus around the year 100, Let God´s melody resound in you. The melody of our life is a single voice within God´s great melody; an everlasting celestial melody, in which we join together as integral parts - with time, we are gradually shown which chords we are given to touch and which chords to form with one another. God´s inextinguishable melody has an infinite galaxy of variations. As you would know, a variation is rooted but limitless. At our christening, God gives us a variation - an inextinguishable variation because of his promise, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28, 20). Deeply rooted as we are, God leads us through. He calls us to Life out of His Eternity, He lets his melody reverberate in us and finally calls us back, when we die, to His everlasting future. Let God´s melody resound in you and guide your feet into the way of peace. Pastor Hanne Margrethe Tougaard.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.938387 Composed by Colin Bayliss. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 66 pages. Colin Bayliss #6139. Published by Colin Bayliss (A0.938387). This work was written in 1999 for an international competition for quartets reflecting in music the visions in three of Edvard Munch's paintings. It is dedicated to the composer's wife, Rayna. 1. The Scream - Moderato - There are 51 versions of The Scream and the movement is in 51 sections grouped roughly into sonata form. The development is largely textural, and the movement hinges about a chord formed of open fifths a major third apart which will also re-appear in the other movements to give the quartet its sense of unity. The screaming is both audible and silent, and the footsteps on the bridge are portrayed both in a sense of passing by and also of running away. 2. Melancholy - Andante - Munch gave other titles to this painting, namely Jappe by the Shore and Jealousy . As jealousy and melancholy are retrospective emotions, tonal and modal music is employed, using the Norwegian folk song Millom bakkar og berg ut met havet set in a minor key for the first section. The A-B-A form then partially loses tonality for Jealousy, while returning to it for Melancholy itself. 3. The Dance of Life - Allegro - This movement is in rondo form, with hints of Norwegian country dances for the dancers in the painting. The two women are portrayed as one looking nostalgically to the light-heartedness of the old waltz and the other brooding on the darkness and latent sexuality of the new tango, the melodies for both of which are also corruptions of the country dances. The Munch chord alters the perspective on the scene as the movement progresses and eventually dissolves at the end as though the onlooker is passing on to another, equally unresolved future. The Score and Parts are available on this site as separate downloads The sound sample is the second movement - performed by the Lochrian Ensemble The complete 6 string quartets performed by the Lochrian Ensemble are available on itunes: see: http://www.dwsolo.com/colinbayliss/.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1004086 Composed by James F. Hodgdon III. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 14 pages. Jhcompositions #3455111. Published by Jhcompositions (A0.1004086). This string quartet is written as a poem representing dark beauty. The piece seems like it's slowly going mad being confused between this beauty and the darkness surrounding it. I believe the piece could also be well utilized in a video game setting or film for discovery or turmoil. This string quartet would work very well for a college group or more advanced players. You are purchasing the score and all individual parts.Duration: 2'35.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.842481 By The Newsboys. By Keith Getty and Stuart Townend. Arranged by Ben Clapton. Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 14 pages. Ben Clapton #4810117. Published by Ben Clapton (A0.842481). In Christ Alone is a popular modern Christian hymn, written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend. Composed in 2001, the lyrics of this song are credal in nature, speaking about the life, death and resurrection of Christ. This arrangement is an adaptable arrangement suitable for many uses. The first, repeated section contains a basic hymn tune arrangement that is easy and able to be played by all players. If accompanying singing, then you can just repeat this section for the four verses.Following this, the arrangement explores the text musically. A short shift into the tonic minor expands the words There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain before a sudden shift back to the tonic major with the words Bursting forth in glorious day. The accompaniment becomes a triplet ostinato which helps bring out the victory theme in the latter part of this verse, invoking a feel of a snare drum in a marching band. The music then starts preparing for a final verse, taking a small melodic motif and passing it around the quartet as it modulates up a tone to E major. The last half of this verse is repeated, with the second violin accompanying part mirroring the melody an octave lower to provide a base for the soaring melody of the first violin high on the E string. This arrangement would be suitable for church accompaniment (first section repeated), or for special performance. The first violin part is quite advanced, ranging to G#6 (sixth position), however the remainder of the parts would be playable by intermediate players.

String quartet - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q49206 Composed by Olli Mustonen. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 23 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q49206. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q49206). It is not a coincidence that many composers seem to have written some of their most important and meaningful works for the string quartet. I grew up listening to string quartets, especially those by Beethoven and Bartók, and those works have had a tremendous impact on what I am as a composer, musician and as a human being. In many of my works one can see some sort of a journey from darkness toward the light, in various forms. In the case of my String Quartet this journey is exceptionally arduous. There is an element of hope in some sections of the third movement, but the hope it offers is more of an otherworldly nature. In the beginning of the fourth movement the very dramatic elements of the beginning of the quartet return. Just at the point, when the listener thinks that the darker elements will ultimately prevail, the music reaches an important turning point. Through a heroic, dissonant struggle it reaches the finale, which is full of ecstasy and instrumental joy. I have given the finale, along with the metronome marking, the indication Con fuoco all’Ungharese - all this of course as a homage to the great Hungarian master, one of my greatest musical heroes already since the very early days of my life.  (Olli Mustonen).
