Here is my rough transcription for cello quartet of Hiraeth, mostly as it is performed on Bryn Terfel's album 'We'll keep a welcome'.  It's a beautiful traditional, and I thought I'd arrange it for cello quartet, as there's no better sound!

Consisting of two verses and a coda, the first verse is really easy, whilst the second verse (in a higher range for variety and expressive purposes) is just slightly more difficult. Students however should be capable of performing this charming Welsh lullaby, enjoying the sweet, soothing harmonies and the attractive parts for the instruments. It is a useful piece for displaying the expressive cantabile qualities of the quartet and would be a tranquil contrasting piece to introduce at a school concert
