Instrumental Duet Alto Saxophone,Guitar,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.899869 Composed by John Stafford Smith (1750-1836), Francis Scott Key (1779-1843). Arranged by Alexander L Burden (b.1989). Graduation,Holiday,Patriotic. Score and parts. 4 pages. Alexander Burden #3573183. Published by Alexander Burden (A0.899869). 2018 Instrumental Arranging Contest EntryGenre: National Anthem, PatrioticLength: 1:20Instrumentation: Alto Saxophone and EuphoniumThe Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States. The lyrics come from Defence of Fort M'Henry, a poem written on September 14, 1814, by the then 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. Key was inspired by the large U.S. flag, with 15 stars and 15 stripes, known as the Star-Spangled Banner, flying triumphantly above the fort during the U.S. victory. The poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith and renamed The Star-Spangled Banner. With a range of 19 semitones, it is known for being very difficult to sing. Although the poem has four stanzas, only the first is commonly sung today. This fun and accessible arrangement is perfect for sporting events, school and corporate functions, parades, private events and any other occasion that calls for use of the Star-Spangled Banner! The Arranger:Email: alburden9012@eagle.fgcu.eduAlexander Burden is a Florida born, professional musician and music educator residing in Southwest Florida. Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576048 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 9 pages. David Warin Solomons #2030193. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576048). Three words too many (say it in words and you cheat, you cheat the indefinable). This was originally a song, which I wrote back in my tender years (also available on this site for alto and guitar), but it also works equally well as an instrumental piece. I have therefore provided versions on this site for guitar with: voice flute alto saxophone French horn English horn (cor anglais) clarinet oboe violin. After a gentle introductory major chord arpeggio, the tension of the piece comes into play from the third bar where the melody line holds and repeats an augmented 4th suspension above the guitar. This note then returns as the arpeggio chords change underneath to reveal it as a minor third of a chord related by three degrees of separation from the original - C major to E flat minor. The harmonies and melody continue to sway in their relations in a curious and yet logical progression. I have provided score and parts and also a separate version of the guitar part which provides chord names and fretboard symbols; this would make it useful for educational purposes. The sound sample is an electronic preview.

Alto Saxophone,Guitar,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.577547 Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. Classical,Romantic Period. 4 pages. David Warin Solomons #1988953. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.577547). Instrumental arrangement of Sapphic Ode - number 4 of Five Songs, Op.94 - by Johannes Brahms. The sound sample is an electronic preview. The original words of the song (followed by my singing translation) are: Rosen brach ich nachts mir am dunklen Hage. Roses plucked at night from the darkening hedgerow Sweeter scented than ever in the day-glow But its branches showered me with its dewfall moist and youthful and the scent of kisses lent me sweeter sips when I took them deep in the night from your soft lips And they made you just like the roses so tearful moved like the dewfall Translation (c) David Warin Solomons.

Alto Saxophone,Guitar,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1278149 By Dire Straits. By Mark Knopfler. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Film/TV,Pop. 13 pages. Derek Hasted #869846. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1278149). LOCAL HERO - WILD THEME - ALTO SAX and GUITAR DUETSuits Classical, Acoustic or Electric GuitarDerek Hasted writes Rightly described as an astonishingly beautiful piece, this music from the film Local Hero actually features twice on the soundtrack album, in different keys with different solo instruments. My arrangement for Alto Sax and Classical Guitar exploits the sustain of the sax and the soft tones of nylon strings and works well at a slightly more modest pace compared to the original. I’ve taken the theme from the closing soundtrack version, where the melody is clear and powerful. My arrangement includes one or two little bits of Mark Knopfler’s quasi-improvised variations on the tune. Note that the guitar part is played with a Capo on the first fret so that both players can enjoy an accessible key signature. The guitar part goes up the neck, and the position numbers are relative to the Capo (ie one fret higher than if there was no Capo fitted). There are no dynamics, but the changing texture of the accompaniment creates the illusion of dynamic changes and you are welcome to add phrasing and dynamics to make the performance “yoursâ€.The guitar part is a little challenging at speed but this will suit confident intermediate players. This enjoyable concert item has a wonderfully captivating melody that the audience will be humming all the way home...I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.
