SKU: A0.1050444

By Henri A. C. Malan and Sharon Wilson. By Frances R. Havergal, Frances Ridley Havergal, and Henri A. C. Malan. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Children,Praise & Worship,Romantic Period,Sacred,Traditional. Score and parts. 15 pages. Sharon Wilson #654799. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.1050444).

Here is an instrumental trio (for VIOLIN and CELLO duet with PIANO accompaniment) of the familiar hymn Take My Life and Let It Be by Henri A. C. Malan. This slightly rhythmic, yet flowing arrangement will encourage reflection as the listeners are reminded of the lyrics penned by Frances R. Havergal: Take my life, and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee; Take my moments and my days, Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Both the VIOLIN and CELLO get to lead with the melody at times making this a fun and equally challenging piece for both instruments while adding variety for the listeners. The VIOLIN plays the melody for the first verse and then the CELLO leads with the melody for the second verse. The song begins in the key of G major and then transitions to the key of C major for the second verse.

The range for each part is as follows: VIOLIN – D4 to F5; CELLO – G2 to C4 (middle C). All notes for both the VIOLIN and CELLO are playable in the first position making this arrangement an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players. The PIANO accompaniment is written for an intermediate player.

The purchase price includes these printing options:
1. a grand staff (6 pages) with all parts on each page
2. separate scores for the VIOLIN and CELLO (1 page each) and PIANO (3 pages)
3. a combined VIOLIN and CELLO score (2 pages)

This hymn of consecration and is one of the 10 songs in the collection inspired by Galatians 5:22-23: The Fruit of the Spirit (10 Hymns for Violin and Cello Duet with Piano Accompaniment)

Composed by Dale Vail. Chamber,Classical. 74 pages. Dale Vail #944490. Published by Dale Vail (A0.1360001).

Taming the Tasman - composed by Dale Vail in 2019 for the Tasman Trio with support from creative New Zealand.

An exciting work for Violin, Cello, and Piano, this piece is not for the faint hearted. Depicting the journey of travelling across the Tasman to begin a new life in a brand new country, this work is full of excitement, despair, and determination. Underlined by the composers jazz influences, this autobiographical work uses the migration of birds between New Zealand and Australia as an allegory for the composers own experiences.

Movement 1, Into the West depicts the perilous journey across the Tasman, and the intensity of being dropped into a new place to fend for yourself.

Movement 2, Alone in a Crowd, tells the story of the loneliness that can come from being just that little bit out of place in a new society, whilst also full of character and strong personality.

Movement 3, Broken Wing, begins with everything being too much, and reflecting on the many failures of the journey, but finishes with a vengeance and determination to prevail.

SKU: A0.1488223

Composed by Ferdinand Ries. Arranged by Dianne James. Classical. 64 pages. Artaria Editions #1065109. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1488223).

Ferdinand Ries (1784-1838) was one of the greatest pianists of his time and a composer of exceptional abilities. Ries studied pianoforte (but not composition) with Beethoven in Vienna and the two men remained on cordial terms for the rest of their lives. In the last year of his life Ries co-wrote a book of Beethoven reminiscences that remain one of the most valuable sources of information about his life and character.

The place and date of composition of the Sonate Sentimentale is uncertain in spite of the apparently conclusive evidence to the contrary: Ries's autograph score is dated 'Godesberg 1814' but by this time Ries was living in London. The discrepancy is probably due to the fact that Ries added the date to this manuscript, as he did to many others, in the 1820s. One of the most intriguing aspects of this work is the difference between Ries's original conception and the work as it appeared in its first published edition in 1834. The extent of the changes points to a substantial authorial revision of the work made prior to publication rather than a garbled transmission of the original text. Among the most striking of these changes is the inclusion of a brief introduction to the first movement; but other passages are extensively rewritten and in some instances lengthened by the inclusion of additional material.

As with all Ries's works for flute, the Sonate Sentimentale is exceptionally well written for the instrument and yet perhaps even more impressive is the way in which Ries balances the musical texture and exploits the full potential of both the flute and piano.

The beautiful work is arguably the most impressive flute sonata of the early 19th century.

Composed by Anonymous, C.M. Von Weber, Christian Petzold, J.P. Rameau, Johann Friedrich Burgmuller, Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann, Stephen Heller, Thomas Attwood, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Kiyoshi Tamagawa. Baroque,Classical,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 57 pages. Mastery for Strings Press #5999949. Published by Mastery for Strings Press (A0.945465).

Developed by Kiyoshi Tamagawa in chamber music workshops with younger pianists, Playing Together presents twelve standard works of keyboard literature for the intermediate to early advanced student combined with added violin and cello parts of moderate difficulty. The piano student who plays these arrangements with the aid of careful coaching will:

1. Gain an introduction to the art of chamber music

2. Learn basic ensemble and rehearsal skills

3. Experience pieces he or she already knows in a new way

4. Have fun making music with others

The string parts occasionally extend beyond the first position; the violin to third position (in the Attwood Sonatina) and the cello to fourth (in the Musette, Attwood Sonatina, Bach G minor Minuet, Heller L’Avalanche, and both Petzold Minuets). String students who have not yet studied beyond first position may need to transpose occasional notes or passages an octave downward. More advanced players may of course elect to take even lower passages in alternate positions for musical reasons.

Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Contemporary,Multicultural,Romantic Period,Standards,World. 31 pages. Jmsgu3 #3531323. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549721).

Duration: ca. 7:00, Score: 18 pages, violin: 3 pages, cello: 3 pages, piano: 7 pages. An epic choice for a recital or funeral.Fauré Background: In the first place, Gabriel Fauré 1845 –1924) was a famous French composer, musician, and educator. Furthermore, his musical ideas influenced numerous 20th-century composers. Therefore, historians regard him as one of the leading French composers of his time. Famous Works: Among his most famous compositions, by and large, are the Pavane, Elegie (op. 24), Requiem, Sicilienne, Nocturnes for piano and the songs Après un rêve and Clair de lune. Inasmuch as his early works are well-known and relatively easy to perform, Faure’s music seems to have become gradually more difficult during his later life. In other words, his later works are somewhat esoteric and complex. Early Home Life: Fauré was in fact born into a well-cultivated family. His aptitude for music became particularly clear early on - when he was still a boy. Under these circumstances, his parents sent him to a music institution in Paris. Consequently, the training he received there prepared him for a career as a church organist and choirmaster. Middle Life: It is important to realize that Fauré studied music composition with the French musical mastermind Camille Saint-Saëns, who became his lifelong friend. Fauré eventually graduated from college and earned a living as an organist and educator. During this period, he had, on the whole, little time to compose. He consequently became more successful in his middle age, becoming organist of the Église de la Madeleine and director of the Paris Conservatoire. However, he still needed time on balance for composing. Therefore, given these points, he withdrew to the countryside during the summer to focus on composing. Later Life: Fauré was, in the final analysis, recognized in France as the foremost French composer of his time. The French government held a national musical tribute particularly for him in Paris. The French President notably headed the ceremony. Elsewhere, on the contrary, Fauré's music was slow to become accepted, except of course, in England. Legacy: Historians often describe Fauré's music in general as a transition between the end of Romanticism and the beginning of modernism. As an illustration, when Fauré was born, Chopin was still composing. However, by the time of Fauré's death, jazz and atonal music, in particular, had come to fruition. Fauré, by all means, suffered from increasing deafness in his later years. Some musicologists believe this to be indeed the cause of the esoteric nature of Faure’s final works.

Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Neil Crossland. Baroque,Classical. 39 pages. Neil Crossland #1077168. Published by Neil Crossland (A0.1501210).

This piano trio arrangement of Vivaldi's Winter from The Four Seasons brings a fresh interpretation to this iconic piece, blending the crisp, dynamic energy of Vivaldi's original with the nuanced interplay of the piano, violin, and cello. The arrangement captures the essence of winter's chill and stormy temperament through the violin's sharp, biting phrases, the cello's deep, resonant tones, and the piano's rhythmic drive. Each instrument takes on a distinctive role, with the piano providing both harmonic foundation and melodic counterpoint, while the strings weave in and out with both intense and lyrical passages. The balance between the instruments highlights the contrasts within the music, from the biting cold of the outer movements to the more introspective middle section. Overall, this arrangement reimagines Vivaldi's masterpiece, allowing each musician to contribute uniquely to the vivid portrayal of winter's drama.

Commissioned by Fairfield University to celebrate the 25th season of the Quick Center for the Arts. Premiered by The Connecticut Trio on September 27, 2015, Fairfield, Connecticut.

Mornings of Creation is a five-movement suite for piano trio. This music was created during the composer's customary composing hours—the morning. Thus, the message is one of the freshness of a new day, and the energy of creative impulse.

Elegy is spacious and unrushed. The mournful theme of downward steps, and its strong countermotive of ascending octaves, recur in various guises, each motive to balance the other. This is an extended journey of the soul. Here, the composer turns within, after the many mornings of creation. -Gwyneth Walker.

Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Neil Crossland. Baroque,Classical. 41 pages. Neil Crossland #1077153. Published by Neil Crossland (A0.1501195).

My arrangement of Vivaldi's Spring Concerto from The Four Seasons breathes new life into this timeless masterpiece. I aimed to capture the vibrant energy and delicate nuances that define Vivaldi's original composition while introducing fresh elements to engage modern listeners. The arrangement opens with the familiar, lively Allegro, where I've emphasized the interplay between the strings, creating a dynamic conversation that mirrors the awakening of nature in spring.

In the second movement, the Largo, I've highlighted the pastoral serenity through a delicate balance of the melody, allowing the solo violin to sing with a gentle yet expressive tone, underscored by a rich harmonic texture in the accompaniment. This movement evokes a peaceful landscape, where the listener can almost feel the warmth of the sun and the gentle breeze.

The final Allegro portrays the exuberant dance of spring. I've infused this section with rhythmic vitality and a playful spirit, enhancing the contrast between the soloist and the ensemble. My arrangement pays homage to Vivaldi’s genius while offering a contemporary perspective that invites the audience to experience Spring with renewed appreciation and joy.
