Here is a beautiful, gently flowing arrangement for an instrumental trio (CELLO and VIOLIN duet with PIANO accompaniment). The tune is the traditional American melody PLEADING SAVIOR from Joshua Leavitt's Christian Lyre. Though this song is known by many titles, this title, Rainbow of His Love, corresponds to the lyrics about the rainbow by Flora Kirkland (lyrics sheet included for reference).  

The VIOLIN carries the melody for the first verse while the CELLO adds harmony. For the second time through the song (after a short piano interlude), the CELLO carries the melody while the VIOLIN alternates between a descant and harmony.

Valentine Serenade is a delightful pastoral piece which would be an effective encore or program item for any occasion. It would of course be especially appropriate for birthdays or any musical occasion around Valentine’s Day. Scored for violin, cello and piano this 3/4 piece is in F major but ventures through many other keys as it wends its way along. The piano part has been purposely kept as simple as possible but the violin and cello parts are for more advanced players who are comfortable with chromatic notes, especially in the short middle section.The cello part is in the bass clef throughout and the top note is A flat an octave above the staff and the violin part has a top note of E flat just above the treble staff. With a running time of just over two minutes this romantic piece with its rich harmonies is sure to charm audiences and give excellent practice in developing a smooth cantabile tone quality.
