Composed by Antonín Dvořák. Arranged by Steven Klaus. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 55 pages. NiceChart #4764581. Published by NiceChart (A0.931991).
This piece, also known as ‘Serenade for wind instruments, cello, and double bass’, has a strong old-world Slavonic styling. This serenade was written as a dedication to composer and music critic Louis Ehlert, whose positive reviews of Dvořák’s works, helped boost his career in Germany. This arrangement focuses on the first of the four movement work which was labeled as Moderato, quasi marcia. The orchestration alone makes this piece unique and requires many of the instruments found in an orchestra. It is a great choice for ensembles that have players that double on other instruments and as a way to showcase chamber work without excluding too many musicians.
To add options to this arrangement, supplemental parts have been included for Piano, Guitar, Timpani, Marimba, Snare Drum, Drum Set, Cymbals and Triangle/Bass Drum.
