In my piano studio I encourage my students to play music together with their friends that play in their school bands and orchestras. So, I’ve needed to arrange some music for them so they would have something to play. Here’s an early intermediate arrangement originates from the American Civil War. Each performer must learn to be both melodist and accompanist, thus learning one of the major elements of playing in ensemble with other musicians.
