Cello Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.900313 By Taylor Swift. By Adam King Feeney, Louis Bell, and Taylor Swift. Arranged by Liz Lee - Cellomoji. Pop. Individual part. 3 pages. Cellomoji #4991015. Published by Cellomoji (A0.900313). Here is a fun song by Taylor Swift off of her newest album Lover. This is written in the key of F Major which is what Taylor is singing in her track. While the key is not difficult it does go into some upper ranges of the cello and tenor clef so be sure to watch your posture and intonation as you play these notes. It is helpful to know the F Major scale in two octaves and even better if you know 3 octaves. Have fun with the song and play along with her album!Cellomoji Website: http://eepurl.com/cOx6H9Cellomoji Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCS8SDY7dyqUR4P3t3qRPISgCellomoji Instagram: www.instagram.com/cellomoji

Cello Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.784341 Composed by Joshua Hauser. Instructional. Individual part. 38 pages. Slide Ride #5288685. Published by Slide Ride (A0.784341). 1 Octave Scale Studies in 15+ keys for 4-part ensembles of like or mixed instruments If this is your first exposure to these scale studies, you are in for a treat! Donuts, if you make a mistake! The initial incarnation of these studies were written for trombone quartet and we would play them in the Tennessee Tech Trombone Choir with the challenge that whomever made the first mistake had to buy donuts for the rest of the ensemble. Since then I have brought that version to several clinics and warm up sessions. One time before I got to explain the title, a fellow trombone professor said, Oh, I get it! Don’t step in the holes!I only wish I had thought of that myself... Since we have one of the best donut shops in TN here in Cookeville, treating the studio to sugar coated goodies was always my intent. As with those initial exercises, you can vary these as much as you’d like.·     Choose a tempo.·     Choose a dynamic.·     Choose an articulation/style.One way I like to play these is to have one person be the model, playing the entire scale over and over while everyone else plays the fragmented versions. That helps everyone to keep on track and stay in time. Double or triple up the parts for ensemble cohesion with a larger group.Practice one key, gradually speeding it up to improve fluidity, or choose a variation and take it through all keys, playing version A, B, C, or D then skipping to play the same set in a new key.If you want an additional challenge, play them in different octaves or change the key. Play the F Major set in f minor (all forms), different modes, etc. Players really have to be on their toes to remember if they are playing melodic minor in the ascending or descending form! For jazz players, try swinging them in dorian or mixolydian modes. The variations are endless! If you are using these with transposing instruments, 1) is F Major in Concert Pitch, 2) is Bb Major in Concert pitch, and so on. When you reach a scale that is enharmonic for another key (Db/C#, Gb/F#, or Cb/B), they are presented in both keys for each instrument so Trumpets can play in Eb while the Flutes are playing in C# with similar examples for all keys. All Donut Etudes with the same volume number are compatible so you can play them in mixed quartets or large ensembles with one or more instruments/people on part 1 and a different instrument on part 2, etc. Since the quartets are all identical, conductors/coaches can use any of the scores to tell which part should be playing at what time. Once you have played a scale with one set of parts, everyone can rotate to a different part and play the same scales again!Enjoy!

Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1288214 Composed by Chris Becker. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Individual part. 6 pages. Beckeresque (ASCAP) #879245. Published by Beckeresque (ASCAP) (A0.1288214). When I first saw the enormous chair Rachel Gardner and Carlos Canul constructed for A Gift from the Bower, an outdoor, multi-disciplinary group exhibition conceived by renowned artists James Surls and Charmaine Locke, I had a vision of a cellist seated in a chair on the chair, performing solo in a bower deep in the woods of Splendora Gardens. I shared this image with Rachel, who didn’t think I was nuts, and over the course of several weeks, composed a piece for unaccompanied cello to be performed at the opening of the exhibit. I was honored when cellist Patrick Moore agreed to premiere the work; his formidable technique and the deep expression he brings to his playing inspired me to embrace the challenge of composing a solo for his instrument.Knowing my piece would be performed outdoors, I was inspired to evoke the rhythm of sound events one hears in woods, especially the rise and fall of wind as it moves through branches and leaves. The very opening of the piece and later, what I hear as an extended coda, were created as moments for the cellist as much as for the listener and are performed in a sort of meditative state, calling to mind the age-old question, “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?†The repeating measures of 16th notes in the piece’s demanding middle section pay tribute to two of my heroes, Terry Riley and Philip Glass. While composing the work, Bach’s Six Suites for Violoncello Solo was another important point of reference, as was double bassist Eberhard Weber's 1973 album, The Colours of Chloë.Once finished, it made sense to name the piece A Gift from the Bower since the opportunity to compose the work was a gift, and in exchange, so is the music I have composed.A Gift from the Bower premiered on April 22, 2023, by Patrick Moore at the Locke Surls Center for Art and Nature.A revised version of this piece was completed on September 5, 2023.

Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1371173 Composed by Emiliano Brunetti. Chamber,Contemporary. Individual part. 5 pages. Emiliano Brunetti #955424. Published by Emiliano Brunetti (A0.1371173). Demencia reflects my experience when going through my grandmother’s dementia. As a degenerative illness, you deal with a progressive loss of the person you care about, while maintaining your strength to be there for them despite your feelings. This erratic and unpredictable path is represented both melodically and rhythmically. Harmonically, I explored the harmonic minor sonority, maintaining the augmented seventh through the whole piece, not to reinforce the resolution in the first chord but to exaggerate the tension.

Cello Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844590 Composed by Charles Czerny. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Classical,Folk,Instructional. Individual part. 3 pages. Phil Beaman #3928129. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844590). This fun piece is loosely based on a popular Russian folk polka. In 1853 Charles Czerny took this polka tune and created a piano etude as part of his set Amusement des Juenes Amateurs. I have taken some of his themes and adapted and arranged them for instrumental solo. I have assembled them into a Rondo form: Intro-A-B-A-C-A-D-A-Coda.  It is an etude (study) to sharpen your playing of scales, arpeggios, melodic interval leaps, and various articulations. But it doesn't at all sound like an exercise because of the playful nature of the polka. This dramatic piece shows your technical accomplishments while delivering a crowd pleasing tune with great flourish.I have marked it as Intermediate in difficulty as a general average. The notes and rhythms are Easy, the quick Tempo makes it Early Intermediate, and the range which is a half step beyond a full 2 octaves makes it Advanced Intermediate for some instruments. Has double stops in the intro and coda.3 pages, 1:45 minutesTemporary piano recording of instrument part

Cello Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018897 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6056131. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018897). Programme Notes: Icarus Also Flew takes its title from the first line of the poem Failing and Flying by Jack Gilbert. He is referring to the classical myth of Daedalus and Icarus, an inventive father and son who bravely escape from their imprisonment in a tower by collecting the disposed feathers of seabirds, then fashion wings out of them and fly away. While the story is often treated as a morality tale--listen to your elders, don’t get cocky like the young man, Icarus, who, in such an understandable state of elation, ascended too close to the sun thus causing the wings to melt and his tumbling to his Mediterranean death--what Jack Gilbert reminds us is how regardless of one’s failure, the sheer transcendental experience of mortal flight remains glorious and unforgettable. Icarus’s fall was not into a legacy of disdain and oblivion, but in truth, he had come to the end of his triumph. This piece was the first of a series I composed during the Covid-19 quarantine conditions of 2020, to serve as potential contemporary preludes for each of Ludwig van Beethoven’s nine symphonies--his two hundred and fiftieth anniversary was this year!--though they can all stand on their own on any program. The connection, in this case, is with his celebrated fifth symphony in C minor--the Fate symphony, as it is commonly known. I’ll let the listener find their own connections.About the Composer:Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.
