Cello Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.800215 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Samantha J Bramley - stringspirational@gmail.com. Classical,Romantic Period. Individual part. 10 pages. Samantha Bramley #6009463. Published by Samantha Bramley (A0.800215). Theme from ‘New World Symphony’ by Dvorak – 2nd Movement ‘Largo’ This is a six ‘cello version of the famous Largo theme from the second movement of Dvorak’s ‘New World Symphony.’ The duration of the arrangement is 3 and a half minutes, making it a nice encore or perfect for inclusion in a varied program. All parts are written in bass clef and none go above 4th position, making it ideal for a student ensemble. If played by a ‘cello orchestra (rather than 6 individual ‘cellists) the solo and tutti markings should be observed with dynamics varied accordingly. Keep Calm & Play Cello! Note from the arranger: All my arrangements for ‘cello quartet, quintet and sextet are conceived specifically with the range and technical capabilities of the ‘cello in mind – no simple transpositions or re-orchestrations of string quartet scores. They are therefore both easily playable and enjoyable by any intermediate to advanced ‘cello ensemble. Most parts do not go beyond 4th position, making them equally suitable for student, mixed ability groups or ‘cello choirs. A complete score and set of parts is included. Cello Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.800218 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Samantha J Bramley - stringspirational@gmail.com. Romantic Period. Individual part. 8 pages. Samantha Bramley #6010395. Published by Samantha Bramley (A0.800218). ‘None But The Lonely Heart’ by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky This was one of my favourite classical pieces as a child and inspired me to take up the ‘cello. This arrangement is for 4 ‘cellos and would make a nice encore or be perfect for inclusion in a varied program. All parts are in bass clef and only the second ‘cello part goes above 4th position (Bb), making it ideal for a student ensemble of mixed ability. Keep Calm & Play Cello! Cello Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596489 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards,World. Individual part. 12 pages. Juan Maria Solare #3088085. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596489). Paregamutiún (Friendship): Four melodies of Armenian connotations for cello solo.I am not Armenian, but these melodies could be: it is an invented folklore. Nevertheless, I never wanted to compose an imitation of real Armenian music; for that I should live in Armenia a few years, learn the language, soak in a couple of millennia of culture and impregnate myself with the current problems. And yet it would be doubtful that the result would sound authentic. Neither I was interested in composing some sounding touristic postcards. These melodies reflect, yes, how a thankful being sees the Armenian from outside. And this is what grants them legitimacy.About the titles:The general title of the piece, Paregamutiún, is translatable as friendship. Sometimes it is transliterated Baregamutyun (as a certain station of the subway in Yerevan). The single titles of each piece refers to a lake, a mountain, a mythical patriarch and a tree of Armenia:1) Sevanavank: Monastery of the Black Lake, founded in 874. The name Sevan means literally Black Van, referring to a lake called Van. It is said that long ago the Armenians came from areas next to the lake Van towards the lake Sevan, they noticed that its waters were dark, almost black, but they reminded them of the lake Van, and therefore called it black Van: Sevan.2) Hayk is the patriarch of the foundational myth of the Armenian nation, and the original name of the country (Hayastán: land of the Armenians); some sources affirm that he was great great grandson or great-great-great grandson of Noah.3) Dziraní Dzar: apricot tree, the Armenian national fruit. Dzar is tree and dzirán is apricot, the obvious phonetic similitude seems to underline a strong semantic proximity between both concepts. The letter Dz is a complex phoneme similar to a smooth th.4) Masis is the Armenian name of mount Ararat, where -according to the Bible- ended up Noah's Arch after the Flood (Genesis 8:4).www.JuanMariaSolare.com

Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018958 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 2 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078715. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018958). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  â€ƒThe second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1113882 Composed by Nicholas Yandell. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Individual part. 5 pages. Nicholas Yandell Music #715783. Published by Nicholas Yandell Music (A0.1113882). Written in 2013. Commissioned by cellist Micah Claffey and premiered by him in 2014. Studio recorded (also by Micah Claffey) in 2015. Has also been performed by Marilyn de Oliveira (Assistant Principal Cello of the Oregon Symphony) and Diane Chaplin. Duration: Around 8 minutes; one movement. Level: Great for a student recital piece; popular with college students. A rich, expressive, melodic piece written idiomatically for the cello's voice; easy for a performer to personalize. Appropriate for intermediate students, but certainly challenging enough to be of interest to professionals as well. Program Notes: This work is the third of three solo cello pieces written for Micah Claffey on pastoral/nature themes. The title refers to the surface of a body of water as one’s head breaks through after a long and strenuous swim beneath it. The core of this work is about defining the character of peace through the odyssey of a single cello’s musical voice. The peace theme starts as just a seed in the beginning; incomplete; represented by the first four notes (a pitch class: 0,4,6,7 or inverted as 0,1,3,7). The cello then plunges into tempestuous waters, but the seed is never lost throughout all the metamorphoses it goes through and all the commotion that surrounds it and this middle section becomes a time of catharsis and refinement. Finally, in the latter third of the work, the theme of peace breaks the surface in its complete form, starting out timidly, but soon climaxing to a powerful and penetrating statement and ending with a sense of relief, clarity, and renewal that exist not in spite of the tumultuous journey, but because of it. Cello Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1453379 By Queen. By Freddie Mercury. Arranged by Sarah Cellobat Chaffee. Pop,Rock,Wedding. Individual part. 2 pages. Sarah Cellobat Chaffee #1032612. Published by Sarah Cellobat Chaffee (A0.1453379). One of Queen's most beloved classic songs, Crazy Little Thing Called Love was written in 1979 as a tribute to Elvis Presley -- and the song's rockabilly groove, doo-wop feel, and blues-inspired bass definitely make that clear! This Cellobat version for solo cello was originally written for a wedding ceremony, but it will also be perfect for receptions, vow renewals, cocktail parties, solo & ensemble contests or any other occasion you need to get your audience dancing! Featuring the catchy lyrical melody, funky rhythmic grooves, and even the guitar solo of the original, this arrangement is just as much fun to play as it is to listen to. No accompaniment part -- it stands alone, or can be played with a backing track for solo gigs. This chart is rated advanced; there are some syncopated rhythms, triplets, and accidentals that might require running through before performing. Overall it will be learnable for more advanced students and sightreadable for professionals. Have fun and swing those 8th notes! :)Sarah “Cellobat” Chaffee is an in-demand acoustic & electric cellist and string arranger. Currently, she performs with legendary rock band Aerosmith in their “Deuces Are Wild” residency show, and she is the principal cellist for the Raiders House Band, playing for a crowd of 60,000 at all of the team's home games. Cello - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549203 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. 58 pages. Jmsgu3 #3461839. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549203). Instrumentation: 8 Cellos arranged in two choirs. Full Score: 28 pg. Study Score: 14 pg. Parts: 2 pg. ea. Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style. Polychoral Works Gabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material but developing it through sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.
