The sonata is the fourth of a set of six published in Paris in 1725 by L’Auteur & Boivin ‘Avec Privilege du Roy.1725.’ The title page described them as ‘SONATES EN TRIO pour Trois Flûtes Transversieres sans Basse Par MR BOISMORTIER. OEVRE SEPTIÈME.’The publication consisted of a set of parts each with the title page followed by a copy of the  Privilége granted by King Louis to Boismortier to print and sell his music.There are 4 movements, Doucement, Courante, Allemande and a pair of minuets. The three flute parts are equal and independent and the Sonata is suitable for players of intermediate standard and above. Written in the French Baroque style which, unlike the Italian Baroque, includes all necessary ornamentation in the parts, the sonata makes an enjoyable concert item for players and audience alike.

Canon in D - Johann Pachelbel - Flute Trio, Keyboatd - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download.Johann Pachelbel's celebrated Canon in D is perhaps the most famous canon ever written. A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon in D was originally scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo playing an ostinato pattern, repeating the same harmonic progression throughout the entire somposition.Regis Bookshar has now arranged this composition for a Flute Trio which play the melody in canon and a Keyboard instrument, either a Piano or Organ, which plays the ostinato pattern. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students and is perfect for concerts, recitals and church services, especially for weddings, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (22 pages).This version of Pachelbel's Canon in D is written in the key of D Major, as was the original version. However, another version, transposed to the key of Bb Major, to make it a little easier for some younger performers, especially brass and woodwind players, is also available, if you would prefer. Originally Ukrainian folk tune called Shchedryk, in 1914 Leontovych arranged the tune and Wilhousky wrote the lyrics which begin Hark how the bells. All three parts are simple enough to be enjoyed by fairly new learners. Flute 3 uses only one octave D-D. Rhythms are kept simple in all parts. This could be a fun introduction to ensemble playing for three young players. It would also be a crowd-pleasing item in a Christmas concert or assembly. Also suitable as an instrumental item in a church service.Available for other combinations of instruments too.
