Flute Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Flute,Bass Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1169321

Composed by Simon Franglen. Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Contemporary,Film/TV. 14 pages. Lisa L Ochoco #769675. Published by Lisa L Ochoco (A0.1169321).

Avatar: The Way of Water, is the long-awaited sequel to the award-winning film from 2009. The soundtrack for the new film was written by Simon Franglen, who originally wrote 5 hours of music to cover any and all situations in the almost 3-hour movie.

The Songcord is a beautiful song that is heard twice in the film – at the beginning and at the end. A songcord is a mnemonic device used by the Na’vi that assists them in storytelling. In this song, Neytiri is thanking Eywa – the Great Mother - for her family.

This arrangement is scored for flute quartet - 2 C, alto, and bass.

An optional part of this piece is what helps create the mood, which is the part called “Shimmerâ€. In an interview, Simon Franglen said that an important part of the music is the feeling of light, and he achieved that by including shimmering sounds into his tunes. The “Shimmer†part can be played by hanging a few keys (house keys, car keys, etc.) that have different pitches on short lengths of string. Use a small metal or wooden object to lightly hit the keys to create little “dingsâ€. You can also use wind chimes, a little xylophone, bells, etc. The idea is to create a magical mood without overpowering the music. Play this part wherever there is a note in the measure.

Duration: 3.75 minutes.

SKU: A0.559766

Composed by John Dowland. Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Renaissance. 66 pages. Lisa L Ochoco #4726485. Published by Lisa L Ochoco (A0.559766).

John Dowland (1562 – 1626) was a lutenist and singer in the Renaissance Period. The lute was a stringed instrument, most closely related to our guitar. He wrote quite a lot of music that is still played and sung by guitarists and singers today. Although his music was written for stringed instruments in general, many arrangers have adapted his works for wind instruments.

This collection of 20 songs from his Third Book of Songs is arranged for flute quartet – 4 C flutes or 3 C flutes and alto. Most of these songs are rather short, so it is recommended that each song is played in its entirety at least twice. I arranged these songs so that the 1st flute always has the melody. To practice fairness in all parts, the parts should be rotated, to give each musician a chance to play the melody.

Song list:

1.    Farewell Too Fair

2.    Time Stands Still

3.    Behold a Wonder Here

4.    Daphne Was Not so Chaste

5.    Me, Me, and None but Me

6.    When Phoebus First did Daphne Love

7.    Say Love if Ever Thou Didst Find

8.    Flow Not so Fast Ye Fountains

9.    What if I Never Speed?

10.  Love Stood Amaz’d

11.  Lend Your Ears to My Sorrow

12.  By a Fountain Where I Lay

13.  O What Hath Overwrought

14.  Farewell Unkind

15.  Weep You no More, Sad Fountains

16.  Fie on This Feigning

17.  I Must Complain

18.  It was a Time When Silly Bees

19.  The Lowest Trees Have Tops

20.  What Poor Astronomers are They

If each song is played twice in its entirety, you will have almost an hour's worth of music.

If you love Renaissance music, this will be a great addition to your repertoire!

Composed by Avraham Zvi Idelssohn (1912). Arranged by Yoel Epstein. Jewish,Wedding,World. 13 pages. Yoel Epstein #3098781. Published by Yoel Epstein (A0.773293).

I wish you the greatest pleasure playing this arrangement of one of Israel's most popular and beloved melodies. This was written in 1917 in Jerusalem by Avraham Zvi Idelssohn, considered to be the father of Israeli music. Idelssohn's research into the music cultures of the different Jewish communities of Jerusalem laid the foundation for the growth of a unique melding of east and west that is the Israeli musical style.

I hope you enjoy playing this as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you enjoy this, you are welcome to try some of my other arrangements. You can see them at

SKU: A0.1278790

Composed by William Ross (1762-1791). Arranged by James Pybus. Celtic,Chamber,Folk,Irish,Multicultural,Wedding,World. 18 pages. James Pybus #870356. Published by James Pybus (A0.1278790).

The Skye Boat Song is a late 19th-century Scottish song adaptation of a Gaelic song composed c.1782 by William Ross, entitled Cuachag nan Craobh (Cuckoo of the Tree). In the original song, the composer laments to a cuckoo that his unrequited love, Lady Marion Ross, is rejecting him. The 19th-century English lyrics instead evoked the journey of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) from Benbecula to the Isle of Skye as he evaded capture by government soldiers after his defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. It is often played as a slow lullaby or waltz. It entered the modern folk canon in the twentieth century with versions by Paul Robeson, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Roger Whittaker, Tori Amos, and many others. Bear McCreary adapted the song as the opening theme music of the 2014 TV series Outlander, sung by Raya Yarbrough, changing the text of Robert Louis Stevenson's poem Sing Me a Song of a Lad That Is Gone (1892) to Lass to fit the story.
This arrangement for SSAB or SSSB Flute Quartet is suitable for a wide variety of performance and concert settings. The duration is 4:13. Contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.
