Based on a Christmas carol composed/arranged by various composers including King John IV of Portugal (1604–1656) and John Francis Wade (1711–1786) but probably going back to much earlier times. My variations are as follows: Verse 1: 4 time, major mode, tune on flute 1 (Wade's harmonisation) Verse 2: 4 time, minor mode, decorated tune on flute 1 Verse 3: 3 time, major mode, tune on alto flute Verse 4: 3 time, minor mode, tune on bass flute Verse 5: 4 time, major mode, tune on flute 2 O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant!
