Faure wrote his Pavane For A Dead Princess in 1887. It is presented here in the modified original key of G minor and arranged for a clarinet quartet. A 5th clarinet is optional to make it a quintet. The form also perfectly fits the original Faure piece so it can be performed with choir. An Eb part is provided as an alternative to the 1st. Also if a 5th player is used an alternate part in F is provided (French Horn, English Horn, or Basset Horn).

These are three short pieces originally written for organ.

It’s a charming work that would add much to any concert or recital. It would be playable by a good high school or university quartet.

Ah! vous dirai-je, maman is a popular children’s song in France, which has had numerous lyrics on different themes since its composition in the 18th century. Mozart was inspired to write a set of 12 variations for piano on this theme sometime between 1781 and 1782 after an earlier stay in Paris in 1778. Many songs in various languages have been based on the Ah! vous dirai-je,maman melody. In English, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, the Alphabet Song, and Baa, Baa, Black Sheep are all based on this melody. The melody also inspired the song What a Wonderful World. This arrangement written in August 2015 is for Clarinet Quartet (3 soprano clarinets and 1 bass clarinet). Each voice has its own interests and challenges. Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) was a French composer, organist, and pianist who, along with his contemporaries Claude Debussy and Gustav Mahler, is often considered a transition figure from the Romantic into the 20th Century periods of music history. 

Fauré's Pavane, Op. 50 of 1886 is one of his best-known compositions. It was, like some of Debussy's music, originally composed for piano but later orchestrated by the composer, and today it is usually heard in that version.

In this arrangement for clarinet quartet, an alternate 3rd Bb clarinet part is included to substitute for alto clarinet if that instrument is not available.
