This arrangement of Railway Song is one of a series of jolly and descriptive quartets (and a septet) all based on the Swabian folksong Auf de schwäb'sche Eisebahne (= on the Swabian railway) from the Tübinger Kommersbuch 1853 The music in this arrangement also mimics the speeding up and slowing down of the train and its whistles. A quirky ragtime originally written for guitar duo (also available on this site), now arranged for various instrumental quartets. It is called bifocal because of the brief bitonal effect in various places. The rhythm switches gently from 4/4 to 3 3 2 /8 from time to time (when it does I have grouped the notes in 3s and 2s to make it clear - make sure they are not misinterpreted as triplets!).

A clarinet quartet arrangement of my Camp David piece originally written for string quintet. This arrangement was originally dedicated to the Japanese Iris Clarinet Quartet It is based on an old Yiddish Folksong Ikh bin e meidel in de yoren and maintains the Yiddish mode.  The pdf file contains score and parts.
