Edward Elgar composed his Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 36, popularly known as the Enigma Variations, between October 1898 and February 1899. It is an orchestral work comprising fourteen variations on an original theme. The variations No.9 - Nimrod from Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations, was transcribed here for clarinet quartet and optional organ by the Harry Walker.

Nimrod, is the ninth of the Enigma Variations composed by Edward Elgar in 1899. Here, the music is arranged for Clarinet Quartet, directly from the orchestral score. Elgar wrote fourteen variations on a theme, each one depicting close friends and family. Nimrod represents his publisher and friend Augustus Jaeger. The biblical character of Nimrod is described as a mighty hunter, and jaeger means hunter in German.

The single pdf file contains the full score plus individual parts for three Clarinets and one Bass Clarinet. There is also an alternative part for Eb Alto Clarinet included. 

Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. All parts require dramatic dynamic contrasts and lyrical legato playing. The overall performance time is around three minutes.
