Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.971154 Composed by Scottish carol from the Hebrides Islands. Arranged by Cheryl Bray Jackson. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. 8 pages. Cheryl Bray Jackson #6049779. Published by Cheryl Bray Jackson (A0.971154). Christ Child's Lullaby is a Scottish carol from the Hebrides Islands and is often used for Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. Father Rankin wrote the lyrics around 1855. The melody was sung as a protective charm for the fisherman away at sea. The rhythm mirrors the rhythm of the surf. While the accompaniment mimics the sound of bagpipes, the beautiful melody soars above. The selection takes a lot of breath control while being accessible by the average player. .

It was adapted from the Scottish lament The Soldier's Adieu by Robert Tannahill. It was written sometime before or during World War I and popularized in 1964 when Catherine McKinnon used it as the theme song for the Halifax-based CBC TV program, Singalong Jubilee. The song has been covered, notably, by Tommy Makem, Gordon Lightfoot, Stan Rogers, The Irish Rovers, and many others. This arrangement for SSAB or SSSB Clarinet Quartet features the top three voices in turn on the melody, while the bass clarinet provides a lively bass line. It is suitable for many concert and performance situations. The duration is 2:55. Contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.

'Eriskay Love Lilt' is a traditional Scottish song which has been recorded by many singers and groups, notably including Judith Durham & The Seekers and the Corries. Eriskay is a small island in the Outer Hebrides and the music evokes the peacefulness of the island.
