Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.734615 Composed by Eliot Daniel. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Contemporary. 7 pages. Chicory Music #6672235. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734615). On October 15, 1951, the very first episode of the I Love Lucy show aired on CBS and became the most watched TV show in the U.S. for four of its seven-year run. Fun trivia about the opening theme song is that during the first season the show opened with their sponsor Philip Morris’ animation of stick figure cartoons of Lucy and Desi climbing down a pack of Philip Morris cigarettes. It was scored with Ferde Grofé’s Jr. The Grand Canyon Suite theme (a composition from 1931).From the second season onwards, the I Love Lucy signature tune we all know so well became the main theme, and one of the most recognizable pieces of music on the planet. It was written by composer Eliot Daniel who cranked it out in an afternoon as a favor to his old Coast Guard buddy Jess Oppenheimer, the show’s producer. Since Daniel still had another year under his exclusive contract to Fox, he asked Oppenheimer to keep his name out of it. Consequently his name does not appear on first or the second season TV credits for what became one of the most popular TV themes. Later, Daniel did seek credit and received royalties from syndicated reruns for the rest of his life. The lyrics were written by Harold Adamson for an episode in the third season in which Lucy believes everyone has forgotten her birthday. So of course Ricky saves the day after a near disaster. This arrangement for Soprano Clarinet Quartet remains faithful to the original.Performance Time Approx. 1 minute 25 seconds

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.891854 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Stephen Davies. Baroque,Standards. 19 pages. Stephen Davies #3465666. Published by Stephen Davies (A0.891854). Many scholarly, and some frankly impenetrable, analyses have been written on the subject of Contrapunctus 7, all available on the internet somewhere (mainly if you can't sleep!). So I would simply say that the motif throughout is stretched, further elongated, scrunched up, placed on different beats, played upsidedown, sideways, shortened, further shortened, over the bar, under the bar, off to the bar(!), and so on, it shouldn't work!! But of course it really does, really! I've known this piece for many years, but it was not until I began unravelling it for this Clarinet version that I must again doff my cap to old J.S. and his enduring genius!

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Bass Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1295533 Composed by Ukrainian Anthem. Arranged by Laurent FLECHIER. Chamber,Classical,Folk. 8 pages. Laurent FLECHIER #885827. Published by Laurent FLECHIER (A0.1295533). I've made the first version of this arrangement for The KAFANA Trio (balkan chamber music). We had a concert just after the beginning of the war in Ukraine, and I wanted to honour this tragical moment. So I decided to imagine than the Ukrainian Anthem could be played by musician all over Balkan Countries, in each typical style (meter and modal system); It's dedicated to all the people under the bombs, who suffers of this situation. It's a short piece, but full of emotions. It's here a version for clarinet quartetThe main difficulty is in fequent meter changes.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.924056 By Miriam Stockley. By Jean Sibelius, Miriam Arlene Stockley, and Miriam Stockley. Arranged by Dominic McGonigal. Contemporary. 8 pages. C8 Music #4361761. Published by C8 Music (A0.924056). The classic Sibelius tune Finlandia has become the unofficial national anthem of Finland. This jazz arrangement is a new twist on a classic, prompted by a kid in one of my ensembles saying, why don't you do a jazz version of Finlandia - so I did. The tune comes out well, with the same sense of pride mixed with poignancy. It's suitable for intermediate players and above. I can do bespoke arrangements for other combinations on request. Bass Clarinet Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.784329 Composed by Joshua Hauser. Instructional. Individual part. 38 pages. Slide Ride #5288649. Published by Slide Ride (A0.784329). 1 Octave Scale Studies in 15+ keys for 4-part ensembles of like or mixed instruments If this is your first exposure to these scale studies, you are in for a treat! Donuts, if you make a mistake! The initial incarnation of these studies were written for trombone quartet and we would play them in the Tennessee Tech Trombone Choir with the challenge that whomever made the first mistake had to buy donuts for the rest of the ensemble. Since then I have brought that version to several clinics and warm up sessions. One time before I got to explain the title, a fellow trombone professor said, Oh, I get it! Don’t step in the holes!I only wish I had thought of that myself... Since we have one of the best donut shops in TN here in Cookeville, treating the studio to sugar coated goodies was always my intent. As with those initial exercises, you can vary these as much as you’d like.·     Choose a tempo.·     Choose a dynamic.·     Choose an articulation/style.One way I like to play these is to have one person be the model, playing the entire scale over and over while everyone else plays the fragmented versions. That helps everyone to keep on track and stay in time. Double or triple up the parts for ensemble cohesion with a larger group.Practice one key, gradually speeding it up to improve fluidity, or choose a variation and take it through all keys, playing version A, B, C, or D then skipping to play the same set in a new key.If you want an additional challenge, play them in different octaves or change the key. Play the F Major set in f minor (all forms), different modes, etc. Players really have to be on their toes to remember if they are playing melodic minor in the ascending or descending form! For jazz players, try swinging them in dorian or mixolydian modes. The variations are endless! If you are using these with transposing instruments, 1) is F Major in Concert Pitch, 2) is Bb Major in Concert pitch, and so on. When you reach a scale that is enharmonic for another key (Db/C#, Gb/F#, or Cb/B), they are presented in both keys for each instrument so Trumpets can play in Eb while the Flutes are playing in C# with similar examples for all keys. All Donut Etudes with the same volume number are compatible so you can play them in mixed quartets or large ensembles with one or more instruments/people on part 1 and a different instrument on part 2, etc. Since the quartets are all identical, conductors/coaches can use any of the scores to tell which part should be playing at what time. Once you have played a scale with one set of parts, everyone can rotate to a different part and play the same scales again!Enjoy!

Clarinet Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,Bassethorn,Contra Alto Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308811 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Richard J. Alder, Jr. Baroque,Chamber,Classical,Early Music,Religious. 32 pages. AMA Editions #898047. Published by AMA Editions (A0.1308811). Flexible Instrumentation:Transposed Score (E♭, B♭, Alto, Bass)I. Bass Clarinet (to low D) or E♭ Contra-Alto ClarinetLength: 5 minutesDifficulty: Intermediate/AdvancedNotes:J.S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue BWV 549 in C-minor is one of his earlier works, believed to be a transcription of a work originally in D-minor (BWV 549a). This arrangement has been scored for clarinet quartet using flexible instrumentation for increased accessibility. The score has been written for E♭, B♭, alto, and bass clarinet, however, any combination of the included parts is acceptable.A B♭ clarinet part has been included for Part III to allow for one of the most common and accessible clarinet quartet settings of three B♭ clarinets and one bass clarinet, however, it required transposing some passages up an octave when it became too low, so using a basset horn, alto clarinet, or bass clarinet is preferable. The Part IV bass clarinet requires several low Ds so an extended range instrument is necessary. For a version that doesn’t require an extended range bass clarinet, BWV 549a in D-minor is available (AMA-008). This version also retains more of the original octaves in III. B♭ Clarinet.Richard originally arranged this work for SATB saxophone quartet and I have adapted it for clarinets. The editing of this arrangement has been in consultation with the Bärenreiter (1972) and Breitkopf & Härtel (2013) Urtext editions for organ.Dr Jason Alder, editor.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Bass Clarinet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.581937 Composed by John Gibson. Contemporary. 17 pages. JB Linear #3459833. Published by JB Linear (A0.581937). Extinction Events (4th movement - Yaguaretê* Surprise) by John Gibson was written as a submission to the International Clarinet Association's 2018 Composition Competition. Written for 3 Bb clarinets and 1 bass clarinet, it is a four movement work for very advanced players. This is the fourth movement only...the others may be purchased separately: Buzzy Delights, It Isn't Easy Being a Cuckoo, and Walrus Jump. The entire set of 4 movements may also be purchased. Simply type extinction events Gibson in the search bar at the top. *(Yaguartë = Argentine Jaguar)Each movement imagines a different animal or insect living in its habitat as it gradually deteriorates. One might think this would be sad, violent music, but each earthly creature is shown in its musical habitat where it happily does what it does best....bees buzzing around flowers, cuckoos gently calling in the forest, Walruses jumping not so gracefully onto sea ice, Jaguars quietly stalking their prey. The habitat changes are depicted by gradual use of unstable scales, and the sometimes hidden ancient tune of the Dies Irae, the Day of Wrath. The point I wish to make is how humans must be watchful of wildlife habitats because we are all in this limited world together. Where wild creatures go, so do we. It was best said by Jane Goodall: Only if we understand can we care. Only if we care will we help. Only if we help shall they be saved.Argentine Jaguars (Yaguareté) are experiencing shrinking habitats due to human population growth and cutting of forests. In this piece I imagined a Jaguar slowly stalking its prey, moving silently on velvet paws. She moves carefully but with barely hidden energy, pausing, then freezing, then suddenly pouncing. Surprise! Sadly, the Dies Irae music plays on. .

Clarinet Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1325229 Composed by Pietro Mascagni. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. Classical,Easter,Film/TV,Opera,Romantic Period. 15 pages. RBMusic #913462. Published by RBMusic (A0.1325229). In 1889, a struggling composer called Pietro Mascagni heard about a sponsored competition for one-act operas, specifically for young Italian composers who had not yet had an opera performed, only two months before the deadline. With little time, he selected the subject for his opera and asked his childhood friend, Giovanni Targioni-Tozzetti (who was helped by Guido Menasci), to write a libretto for him. Mascagni selected a story that he had seen as a play in Milan in early 1884 by realist writer Giovanni Verga, “Rustic Chivalryâ€, or Cavalleria rusticana. A passionate love tragedy featuring seduction, adultery, revenge and murder, it is surprising set on Easter morning.Mascagni received only a few verses at a time from his librettists, but he was not worried because he had the opera clear in his mind: “I identified with the drama to such an extent that I felt it within myself in terms of music.†After two months’ of work, the music for Cavalleria rusticana was finished but he feared the opera would fail and put the music in a draw. Fortunately, his wife sent it off, he unanimously won the competition and was soon the talk of Europe. (At the premiere in May 1890 in Rome, Mascagni received no fewer than 60 curtain calls.) Unfortunately, it was a one-hit wonder with Mascagni unable to repeat its success, saying towards the end of his life that “it is a pity I wrote Cavalleria first for I was crowned before I became king.†He died, penniless, in 1945.Today, few people have heard of Mascagni’s name, and, if they have, it is rarely in relation to anything but one piece from Cavalleria rusticana, the Intermezzo. A short piece of purely orchestral music that is uses to denote the passage of time, the orchestration is very simple but it is such an indulgently beautiful melody (based on a hymn heard earlier in the short opera) that perfectly captures the peace of country living in Sicily against the intense feelings of the main characters and the looming tragedy to come. The piece is so popular that (along with the “Easter Hymn†from the same opera), it is the only reason Mascagni features in the Classic FM’s Hall of Fame. The piece was used in the 1980 film Raging Bull and the 1990 film The Godfather Part III.This arrangement includes alternative parts for clarinet in E-flat and alto clarinet in E-flat. A recording of the original song can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kgr-I1y1_2M.Other searchable terms: Italy, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Cathy Moriarty, Nicholas Colasanto, Theresa Saldana, Frank Vincent, Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy García, Eli Wallach, Joe Mantegna, Bridget Fonda, George Hamilton, Sofia Coppola.
