Clarinet Quintet,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.781985

By The Cyrkle. By Bruce Woodley and Paul Simon. Arranged by Aaron Hettinga. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk,Pop,Rock. 16 pages. Aaron Hettinga #6029401. Published by Aaron Hettinga (A0.781985).

This oldie but goodie by Cyrkle and Simon & Garfunkel is presented here in an arrangement for Clarinet Ensemble. All of the parts should be relatively accessible to players of even moderate ability as there are no major range challenges that are taxing to the extremes of any instrument other than a few low notes. The technical challenges may come about if taken at a particularly brisk tempo, but even a slightly slower interpretation will sound great.

Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Classical,Instructional,Opera,Romantic Period,Traditional. 16 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #728559. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1127948).

This adaptation was intended for a small group of clarinet quintet, where the original essence of the piece was kept, however, with a reduction in the duration, where only the main themes of the opening were extracted. As it is simplified, it is intended for beginner students of instrumental music who want to enter orchestral music, even in a simplified and reduced form, and can be used by music teachers with their students in ensemble practice in situations such as academic recitals, didactic concerts, or assessment tests. The Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67, known as the Symphony of Destiny, by Ludwig van Beethoven, written between 1804 and 1808, is one of the most popular and best known compositions in the entire repertoire of European music. The four movements are characterized by orchestral homogeneity, being, at the same time, an example of alternation: the first movement, revealing great tension, denounced by the strings and raised to an extreme drama; the second movement reveals solemnity, in a funeral march that rises by its emotion and beauty; the third movement, a crispness; the fourth movement expresses triumph and magnificence.

By Duke Ellington/Barney Bigard. By Duke Ellington/Barney Bigard. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Historic,Jazz,Multicultural,Standards,World. 11 pages. Keith Terrett #863759. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1271363).

C Jam Blues is a jazz standard composed in 1942 by Duke Ellington and performed by countless other musicians, such as Dave Grusin, Django Reinhardt, Oscar Peterson, and Charles Mingus, arranged here for Clarinet Quintet.

The Eb & Bb Clarinet 4 are optional.

As the title suggests, the piece follows a twelve-bar blues form in the key of C major. The tune is well known for being extremely easy to play, with the entire melody featuring only two notes: G and C.

A performance typically features several improvised solos. The melody likely originated from the clarinetist Barney Bigard in 1941, but its origin is not perfectly clear.

It was also known as Duke's Place, with lyrics added by Bill Katts, Bob Thiele and Ruth Roberts.

Ellington's black and white film was produced in 1942. The video depicts a jam session where Ellington begins playing with a double bass before gradually being joined by other members of his band, among them drummer Sonny Greer and trumpeter Rex Stewart. The film title is Jam Session. Western Swing band leader Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys recorded the song sometime between 1945 and 1947 as part of the Tiffany Transcriptions. Bill Doggett recorded a version on his 1958 tribute album Salute to Duke Ellington (King). C Jam Blues was used by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band as the basis of their song The Intro and the Outro. Mulgrew Miller and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen included the song in their 1999 album The Duets. The Dave Brubeck Quartet performed this live at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival; the recording appears in their album Newport 1958.
