Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1433420 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Chamber,Contest,Festival,Historic,Standards. 107 pages. Jmsgu3 #1013671. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1433420). BACH: Partita No. 4 BWV 828 Contents: Overture, Allemande, Courante, Aria, Sarabande, Menuet, Gigue. Bach's Partita No. 4 in D major, BWV 828, is an essential work for several reasons: It is part of Bach's Clavier-Übung I, a collection of keyboard suites that he published in the last 25 years of his life as a musical testament to convey his vision of music-making and composing. Unlike his earlier English and French suites, the partitas in this collection are more severe, focusing on polyphonic structures that actively involve both the listener and performer. The partita consists of seven movements, all in the key of D major, structured around Renaissance dance forms such as the allemande, courante, sarabande, minuet, and gigue. This instrumentation captures both the original medium for these dance sets as well as the Baroque style of Bach. Bach was well aware of his abilities as a composer, and he deliberately published these works to ensure they would not be lost to future generations. The partitas represent Bach's mature approach to keyboard composition, where he was less interested in dance rhythms and more focused on creating complex polyphonic structures. Overall, Partita No. 4 is considered an essential work in Bach's keyboard oeuvre, as it showcases his mastery of form and counterpoint while also reflecting his desire to create music that would endure.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1250210 Composed by Felicity Mazur-Park. 21st Century,Blues,Classical,Jazz,Praise & Worship. 25 pages. Felicity Mazur-Park #844544. Published by Felicity Mazur-Park (A0.1250210). Ancient, Modern Sounds was written specifically for The Estrella Consort for the 2022 Alba Composition Festival. In this piece, I realize neoclassical elements within a post-modern aesthetic. Chorale melodies are interweaved with contemporary countermelodies to produce a modern sound world with familiar undertones. One of the highlights of the quartet is the alto saxophone cadenza in the middle. The alto saxophonist is at liberty to improvise or follow what is on the page. As you listen, imagine the piece through two different lenses, a contrapuntal lens, and a timbral lens. Through the contrapuntal lens you will see the piece gradually depart from its traditional chorale focused language. Through the timbral lens multiple sound worlds can be heard. This piece is ideal for high school solo and ensemble competitions or performances, college ensembles, and professional players. The Liberty Bell for Saxophone Quartet (SATB or AATB)The Liberty Bell is ideal for any concert programmes that have an American, patriotic, or military focus. In the UK it will be a popular addition to Film & TV based programmes because of the march's use as the theme for Monty Python's Flying Circus.Sousa’s The Liberty Bell (March) for Military Band was published in 1893 and became an immediate hit. It was originally scored for: 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, cymbals, bass drum, snare drum, and strings. However, it is often performed today by a standard Military Band, consisting of woodwind, brass, and percussion sections. An abbreviated version of Liberty Bell was used as the theme tune for the British television comedy sketch show, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, which ran from 1969 to 1974.This arrangement for Sax Quartet consists of the whole March with its Trio section. The dynamic shaping is based on that used by The President’s Own Band, but these are mostly editorial so can be changed by the performers. The full length is 3 minutes 35 seconds, but there is an optional ending at 2 minutes 35 seconds.

Arranged by Benjamin Karaca. 20th Century,Contemporary,Instructional,Jazz,Standards. 17 pages. Benjamin Karaca #6409831. Published by Benjamin Karaca (A0.946355). Jimmy Giuffre composed Four Brothers for Woody Herman's Second Herd. This band was famous for its saxophone section, which featured the unusual lineup of three Tenor Saxophones and one Baritone Saxophone (TTTB). This saxophone quartet arrangement is often referred to as the Four Brothers†lineup. Four Brothers (the piece) is now a jazz standard and a showcase piece for any saxophone section. This version is a transcription (or leadsheet) of the main theme. The key matches the original. In addition to the original TTTB lineup, I've added as many additional parts as possible. This version can be played with any sensible combination of Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone and even Bass Saxophones. The main theme of Four Brothers provides the quartet with a perfect opportunity to focus on various important aspects of ensemble playing, including phrasing, articulation, timing, volume (balance), and tone. Additionally, I've added an intonation exercise based on the chord progression of the [A] section.Saxophone Quartet in various lineups (SATB, AATB, TTTB etc.).
