To introduce this Dennis Wilson (1920 - 1989) produced a gentle 'Palm Court Orchestra' theme for string quartet, echoing Beethoven and Boccherini and even Mozart's  Diverimento for two horns and sting quartet (K522) otherwise known as 'The Musical Joke'. The main theme leads to a much faster 6/8 section in which the melody is varied and distorted melodically and harmonically before the main theme reoccurs.
