Johann Baptist Strauss I (1804 – 1849), also known as Johann Strauss Sr., the Elder or the Father, was an Austrian composer of the Romantic Period. He was famous for his light music, namely waltzes, polkas, and galops, which he popularized alongside Joseph Lanner, thereby setting the foundations for his sons—Johann, Josef and Eduard—to carry on his musical dynasty. He is best known for his composition of the Radetzky March (named after Joseph Radetzky von Radetz).

Composed by Johann Strauss Sr. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Holiday,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. 17 pages. Diego Marani #3368437. Published by Diego Marani (A0.527744).

Radetzky March, Op. 228, is a march composed by Johann Strauss Sr. and dedicated to Field Marshal Joseph Radetzky von Radetz. First performed on 31 August 1848 in Vienna, it soon became quite popular among regimented marching soldiers. It has been remarked that its tone is more celebratory than martial; Strauss was commissioned to write the piece to commemorate Radetzky's victory at the Battle of Custoza. It is always played as the last piece at the New Year's Concert (Neujahrskonzert) of the Vienna Philharmonic.

This arrangement for sax quartet includes the following parts: Bb Soprano, Eb Alto, Bb Tenor, Eb Baritone.

SKU: A0.764705

Composed by George Gershwin (1898-1937). Arranged by James Pybus. 20th Century,Contemporary,Wedding. 27 pages. James Pybus #5195489. Published by James Pybus (A0.764705).

Lullaby was written in 1919 while Gershwin was studying harmony and counterpoint with Edward Kilenyi Sr. He was constantly seeking to expand his knowledge and refine his technique. He used the opening theme of the Lullaby as part of an aria in his unsuccessful one-act opera of 1922, Blue Monday. Though the stage work was a failure, hearing the work caused Paul Whitman to commission a work for his upcoming Aeolean Hall concert. This work turned out to be Rhapsody in Blue. This arrangement for SATB Saxophone Quartet of Lullaby for String Quartet has been made more saxophone-friendly by lowering the keys and making certain register changes. It should be a nice addition to any concert program. The duration is approximately 8:08. Please contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.
