The American version of the album was released two weeks earlier, on 26 June 1964 by United Artists Records, with a different track listing that included selections from George Martin's film score. In contrast to the Beatles' first two albums, all 13 tracks on A Hard Day's Night were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, showcasing the development of their songwriting partnership. The album includes the song A Hard Day's Night, with its distinctive opening chord,[6] and Can't Buy Me Love, both transatlantic number-one singles for the band. Several of the songs feature George Harrison playing a Rickenbacker 12-string electric guitar, a sound that was influential on the Byrds and other groups in the folk rock movement.

Saxophone Quartet (SATB or AATB)In the Bleak Mid-Winter is a popular Christmas Carol which has been set to music by both Gustav Holst and Harold Darke. This sax quartet arrangement is based on the Holst version and combines the composer's beautifully simple harmony with the arranger's own counter-melodies and intricate wind writing. Lovely writing for all instruments. An ideal work for Christmas concert programming.This is a through-composed instrumental arrangement that explores the melody and harmonies of the Holst hymn in 3 differently arranged verses. After a short introduction the first verse uses Holst’s original 4-part harmonisation in its beautiful simplicity, with soprano saxophone playing the melodic line. In verse 2, the tenor sax presents the tune in a lower register while the baritone plays a Baroque style ‘walking bass’. The sopranoe and alto weave countermelodies above them, introducing new material for a Pachelbel-like interlude of an ascending sequence - bringing the music to a climax before subsiding into verse 3. Here a slightly ornamented version of the tune returns with the new material continuing in the bass line. After another smaller climax we return to the original Holst as the work ends quietly and thoughtfully.

Bach's Partita No. 2 in C minor, BWV 826, is an essential work for several reasons: Significance in Bach's Oeuvre It is part of Bach's monumental collection of six partitas (suites) for the keyboard, considered among music history's most famous and challenging suites. The partitas were published as Bach's Opus 1 in 1731, showcasing the diversity of forms and ingenious counterpoint in his keyboard writing.  Partita No. 2 was one of the earliest partitas to be published individually in 1727, highlighting its significance.  Musical Characteristics It opens with a grand Sinfonia movement akin to a French overture, followed by an expressive Andante aria-like movement.  The fugue movement has an intense subject spanning a minor 9th interval. It includes a double (ornamented variation) of the traditional Sarabande dance movement. The final Capriccio movement is a virtuosic and contrapuntal concerto-like piece testing the performer's technical prowess.  Overall, the partita exhibits a weighty, substantial, and momentous character compared to the first.  Influence and Legacy It expanded keyboard suites' technical and musical boundaries along with the other partitas.  Due to its artistic merit and challenges, it has remained a pinnacle of the keyboard repertoire, studied and performed by generations of musicians.  In summary, Bach's Partita No. 2 is a significant work that exemplifies the composer's mastery of counterpoint, variation forms, and virtuosic keyboard writing, solidifying the partitas' enduring importance in the canon of Western classical music.

This simple arrangement adapted for tenor sax quartet was imagined for a group of beginner students who want to start their immersion in classical music, of course with the help of a teacher. Even though the original work is for strings, this did not prevent this beautiful adaptation, where the original essence of the work was maintained, being made only an adaptation of the tonality and some adaptations in the tessitura of the instruments. This piece can be used for professional and academic recitals, didactic material and repertoire for ensemble practice as well, which does not prevent professional musicians and instructors from using it for performances of their preference. Luigi Boccherini was born in the city of Lucca, in northern Italy. He studied cello and became a virtuoso who eventually moved to Spain, where he worked with the Spanish royal family for the rest of his life. His String Quintet in E major, Op. 11, No. 5, G 275, was written in 1771 and published in 1775, and is one of his most famous works.The quintet is famous for its minuet and trio, third movement which is often played as an independent piece outside the context of the full quintet. This is notably the most famous, it is in 3/4 time, in the key of E Major modulating to A Major. This is a beautiful work, and not just the third movement, with good partial writing for all. The lovely, flowing melodies and rhythms are typical of Boccherini. The quintet is suitable for both concerts and home performances.

One of Haydn's last string quartets arranged for saxophone quartet - the height of elegant and sophisticated writing for a small group of instruments. It takes its name from the second movement, in which Haydn uses the anthem 'God Save Emperor Francis' (which he wrote for Emperor Francis II) as the theme for a set of variations. This tune later became the German National Anthem, and is also well known as the melody for the hymn 'Glorious Things Of Thee Are Spoken'. In four movements, the first and last of which are extended compositions in sonata form. The second movement is the set of variations mentioned above, in which each instrument takes a turn at stating the tune, while the other instruments weave their variations round it. The third movement is a boisterous Minuett. An extended work, requiring neat playing from all musicians. The soprano part is particularly challenging, requiring nimble fingering and some rapid tonguing. The minuet and trio is easier but still rewarding. A chance for a sax quartet to try music from a different historical period.
