This is a lead sheet for an original bossa nova/jazz piece. The title, Não Sei Porque (I Don't Know Why...), is a nod to the Brazilian origins of the bossa nova style. The translation of said title is in parentheses. The piece is intended to be performed at approximately 135 bpm. It's a lively piece that can be performed in and arranged for any context in which you might perform any jazz standard. A variety of ensembles from high school to professional levels could perform it to a very warm reception. The audio file is my attempt at a standard big band arrangement. It was done in Finale 25 with instruments from Garritan's JABB 3 software. The interlude section is intended to be played after every solo in a manner similar to the way A Night in Tunisia is sometimes played. This isn't required of course. It's jazz! Improvise! Children's Song composed and arranged by Woodwind teacher and performer Don Turoso is arranged for a front line of three horns with four parts in the rhythm section.  All parts are integrally important.  This was recorded in 2005 on the Cd The Don Turoso Septet.  It is a medium tempo Latin feel with moderate range demands.  A very pretty melody with plenty of open area for solos in an A - B section.  The introduction can also be used as a break section between solos or just on the DC before repeating the head leading to the coda.  I rate this arrangement in the 3-4 range.  Recordings are available, as indicated for purchase or the listen to online.  Look for other Jazz combo, Big Band, Marching Band, and other titles to follow. You got to give it up for the key of this piece of Ab minor, you have been warned.  LOL.  2 page arrangement is challenging but not overly so, and well worth the effort to learn.
