You want your concerts to be well visited and to help you with that, I make arrangements (and compositions) for trombonequartet with guitar, piano, bass and drums. They also contain an optional bass-trombone/ tuba part and sometimes a solo part. This one contains a trombone solo part. This arrangement of A Whole New World, is scored for Solo Trombone in front of the ensemble mentioned above.  There are two solo parts in the set. One high and and one low. You can combine those two if that makes you more comfortable. Durata: 3,5 minutes (approx.) The song itself is about Alladin taking Jasmine on a ride on the magic carpet. The lyrics are all about discovering what you didn’t know about and be grateful for all the adventures life gives. This makes it a perfect piece to play in a variety of places, like weddings, celebrations of any kind, graduations, not to mention many types of concerts. With a few adjustments you can also use parts of this arrangement and make it work. It’s most powerful when you use the whole band, but it still makes a lot of sense if you have to skip some of the parts. There are so many times I have had to skip a piece in a concert, using a not as good substitute, because we didn’t have the people to play it. This is my first original composition, written in late summer 2023. Would you believe me if I told you I wrote this in a single day? Probably not! XD. I was experimenting with chords, and everything just sort of clicked. Then came the melody.  I called it Contrast, because, in my honest opinion, I used both bright sounding and dark sounding chords in jazz. This package includes the score, the parts: both transposed (Eb and Bb) and concert pitch, and the audio demo of how it should sound. Words that come to mind about this piece are strange, edgy, and fun. In just over a minute the music moves seamlessly through four different styles. I think of it as invoking images of mutant creatures wreaking havoc on a small town in a 1950's monster movie. Toads is meant to be OUT. The first section has a minor blues feeling even though it does not have have a minor blues harmonic structure. The solo fills (on E+7 and Db7) are fairly short on the demo recording. They can be played longer and have more of an avant-garde spirit. The second section has an angular melody line, with an emphasis on major 7th intervals, and shifting time. It can start softly and build in volume to the third section. The third section is also angular; however, there is a melodic shift from major 7th intervals to fourths & tri-tones and the rhythm section is in a more straight-ahead style. Finally, the fourth section (last 4 measures) has a funk feeling. Children's Song composed and arranged by Woodwind teacher and performer Don Turoso is arranged for a front line of three horns with four parts in the rhythm section.  All parts are integrally important.  This was recorded in 2005 on the Cd The Don Turoso Septet.  It is a medium tempo Latin feel with moderate range demands.  A very pretty melody with plenty of open area for solos in an A - B section.  The introduction can also be used as a break section between solos or just on the DC before repeating the head leading to the coda.  I rate this arrangement in the 3-4 range.  Recordings are available, as indicated for purchase or the listen to online.  Look for other Jazz combo, Big Band, Marching Band, and other titles to follow.
