Latin jazz groove. Flutes, Alto Saxophone, Piano, Bass, Drums … all parts annotated. DOWNLOAD BUNDLE INCLUDES SCORE AND PARTS NOTATED IN FINALE Firebird (BMI Work #17075594), is the first single from the latest album of music by Christopher Burnett, BMI. The commercial recording was released on the Artists Recording Collective (ARC) label and available at the top music stores like: iTunes, Amazon Music, Google Play and CD Baby. STUDIO RECORDING NOTES The provided MP3 Audio Clip contains an excerpt of the commercial recording and features: Christopher Burnett – alto saxophone/composition; Roger Wilder – piano; Jeff Harshbarger – bass; Clarence Smith – drums; with Terri Anderson Burnett and Freda Proctor – flutes. The final mastering and mix by Craig Rettmer at C.R. Sound in Kansas City is truly amazing. ABOUT THE COMPOSER How are jazz careers made? Many have remarked on the big historical shift: musicians used to apprentice on the road with masters and learn the language firsthand, but those cultural conditions are fading, and the bandstand has been replaced by the graduate degree. There’s truth in that narrative, and yet it fails to account for the full variety of paths that players are taking as they strive to find their voice in this music. For alto saxophonist Christopher Burnett, the journey involved spending 22 years as a musician in the U.S. Army. He left the service in 1996 - I’ve been out nearly as long as I was in, he says - and resettled in 2001 in his native Kansas City metropolitan area. Two years earlier, in 1999, he had released his debut recording, Time Flies, and in 2008 he followed up with Theme Music, both on the Artists Recording Collective (ARC) label that he cofounded with saxophonist Erica Lindsay and pianist Sumi Tonooka. Now at age 58, Burnett reaches another level of achievement with Firebird, showcasing a fine working quartet and a set of compositions rich in beauty, subtlety and sophistication. There’s a remarkable lyrical ease and harmonic savvy in the compositions that make up Firebird, not least of all on the title track with its layered flutes and Latin-tinged rhythmic feel. Burnett’s legato eloquence and depth of expression on the slow 4/4 Ballad for An Optimist is another highlight. His choice of the inspired, metrically shifting A Risk I Take, by French horn virtuoso and colleague Mark Taylor, tells us much about his refined taste and interpretive abilities. Excerpt from the liner notes by: David R. Adler, New York, New York Also see: www.BurnettMusic.com.

Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1023975 By Peabo Bryson And Regina Belle. By Alan Menken. Arranged by Odd Helge Hveding. Film/TV. Score and parts. 27 pages. Oh2Musikk #3056155. Published by oh2Musikk (A0.1023975). How can your trombone quartet gain more audience? By playing with other people. You want your concerts to be well visited and to help you with that, I make arrangements (and compositions) for trombonequartet with guitar, piano, bass and drums. They also contain an optional bass-trombone/ tuba part and sometimes a solo part. This one contains a trombone solo part. This arrangement of A Whole New World, is scored for Solo Trombone in front of the ensemble mentioned above.  There are two solo parts in the set. One high and and one low. You can combine those two if that makes you more comfortable. Durata: 3,5 minutes (approx.) The song itself is about Alladin taking Jasmine on a ride on the magic carpet. The lyrics are all about discovering what you didn’t know about and be grateful for all the adventures life gives. This makes it a perfect piece to play in a variety of places, like weddings, celebrations of any kind, graduations, not to mention many types of concerts. With a few adjustments you can also use parts of this arrangement and make it work. It’s most powerful when you use the whole band, but it still makes a lot of sense if you have to skip some of the parts. There are so many times I have had to skip a piece in a concert, using a not as good substitute, because we didn’t have the people to play it. In this series I have made it easier to still be able to play it, even if you don’t manage to cover every part. Check it out and you’ll understand. Do you want to know more about me and my music? Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970748 Composed by Mike Strand. Concert,Graduation,Jazz,Latin,World. Score and parts. 3 pages. Michael M. Strand #5335369. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970748). By Mike Strand, ASCAP This is a bossa nova lead sheet with chord symbols and guitar fret boards, for a jazz or Latin ensemble, large or small, and a solo instrument (flute, saxophone, guitar, etc.). So it supports a variety of arrangements, contra facts, and improvisations. The audio sample is a jazz bossa nova accompaniment, combined with my tune from Finale PrintMusic - a quartet ensemble.  In this particular sample, you'll hear a flute carry the tune.Levantado translates to lifted up, and connotes being cheered up or advanced in some way.  This tune would serve well at a graduation party. Many bossa novas are in minor keys and convey sadness or melancholy.  Levantado is not your typical bossa -- you’ll hear major chords and ascending melody motifs, good for a happy occasion. Libertango, by Astor Piazzolla, was my inspiration for this composition, and he is recognized in the subtitle.  The basic structure of Levantado is similar to Piazzolla's piece, but the harmonic progressions and melody in Levantado differ from those in Libertango.  The chord base notes in my piece often ascend in the progressions, where they descend in Piazzolla's piece.  The melody motifs between the two pieces also differ -- gone are Libertango's repeated 7-note figures, and there are reversals or inversions in my piece relative to Piazzolla's other melodic material.

Jazz Combo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1418105 By U.S. National Anthem. By Traditional. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Patriotic,Traditional. 10 pages. Chicory Music #999617. Published by Chicory Music (A0.1418105). “The Star-Spangled Banner†is the national anthem of the United States. By the time the song officially became the country’s anthem in 1931, it had been one of America’s most popular patriotic tunes for more than a century. The anthem’s history began the morning of September 14, 1814, when an attorney and amateur poet named Francis Scott Key watched U.S. soldiers—who were under bombardment from British naval forces during the War of 1812—raise a large American flag over Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland. This traditional treatment of the anthem may be useful for public performances, school performances, graduation,or patriotic programs. Parts included are:,Full Score, Trumpet, Alto Sax, Trombone, Tenor Sax, Piano, Acoustic Bass and Drum Set.                                                                                            Performance time is approx. 1:30 minutes.
