This original piece, like its title says, is a kind of warm tune fully arranged for Jazz Dectet (3-2-1-4) starting with spun sounds to center the pitch for all the band while the rhythm drives easyly from standard light swing to hal-time feeling and double-time feeling adding some punches and breaks here and there. The second half of the tune covers all harmonized major scales in all  twelve keys inserting breaks and punches and short solos too. First in the set list, this piece is a must, it has been created as a starting warm up for the whole band, for each and every rehearsal.

Children's Song composed and arranged by Woodwind teacher and performer Don Turoso is arranged for a front line of three horns with four parts in the rhythm section.  All parts are integrally important.  This was recorded in 2005 on the Cd The Don Turoso Septet.  It is a medium tempo Latin feel with moderate range demands.  A very pretty melody with plenty of open area for solos in an A - B section.  The introduction can also be used as a break section between solos or just on the DC before repeating the head leading to the coda.  I rate this arrangement in the 3-4 range.  Recordings are available, as indicated for purchase or the listen to online.  Look for other Jazz combo, Big Band, Marching Band, and other titles to follow. The March 2020 Covid-19 influenza scare is the subject of Wait It Out.  The lyrics express an individual’s efforts to cope with being isolated, away from friends – social distancing to discourage the spread of the flu. I wrote this tune in the Locrian mode, which conveys a sad, surreal mood associated with self-isolation.  The coda brightens the mood with a change to Ionian (major) mode.Here are the lyrics:Wait It Out1.  I’m not having fun home alone. I’m chewing my nails to the bone. I don’t pretend to comprehend. I’ll just wait it out to the end. 2. Well, I just want to sit, drink and eat, But going on line is a treat. So it supports a variety of arrangements, contra facts, and improvisations. The audio sample is a jazz bossa nova accompaniment, combined with my tune from Finale PrintMusic - a quartet ensemble.  In this particular sample, you'll hear a flute carry the tune.Levantado translates to lifted up, and connotes being cheered up or advanced in some way.  This tune would serve well at a graduation party. Many bossa novas are in minor keys and convey sadness or melancholy.  Levantado is not your typical bossa -- you’ll hear major chords and ascending melody motifs, good for a happy occasion. Libertango, by Astor Piazzolla, was my inspiration for this composition, and he is recognized in the subtitle.  The basic structure of Levantado is similar to Piazzolla's piece, but the harmonic progressions and melody in Levantado differ from those in Libertango.  The chord base notes in my piece often ascend in the progressions, where they descend in Piazzolla's piece.  The melody motifs between the two pieces also differ -- gone are Libertango's repeated 7-note figures, and there are reversals or inversions in my piece relative to Piazzolla's other melodic material.
