Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970747 Composed by Mike Strand. Concert,Jazz. Score and parts. 3 pages. Michael M. Strand #5330633. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970747). By Mike Strand, ASCAP This is a lead sheet with lyrics, chords and guitar fret boards, for a jazz ensemble, large or small, with singer or solo instrument.  Thus, it is the basis for a variety of arrangements, contra facts, and improvisations. The audio sample is a jazz quartet:  An iReal Pro swing accompaniment combined with my tune from Finale PrintMusic.Wait It Out (Alternate Version), and Wait It Out (Rock Version) are also for sale on this web site.  The alternate version is also a swing -- same tune with different harmonization. The March 2020 Covid-19 influenza scare is the subject of Wait It Out.  The lyrics express an individual’s efforts to cope with being isolated, away from friends – social distancing to discourage the spread of the flu. I wrote this tune in the Locrian mode, which conveys a sad, surreal mood associated with self-isolation.  The coda brightens the mood with a change to Ionian (major) mode. Here are the lyrics:Wait It Out1.  I’m not having fun home alone. I’m chewing my nails to the bone. I don’t pretend to comprehend. I’ll just wait it out to the end. 2. Well, I just want to sit, drink and eat, But going on line is a treat. And I know this much, we’ll stay in touch! Waiting this out to the end. Coda Sending warm wishes to you, my friend! We’ll wait this thing out to the end!

Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970755 Composed by Mike Strand. Concert,Jazz. Score and parts. 3 pages. Michael M. Strand #5739279. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970755). By Mike Strand, ASCAP This is a swing tune lead sheet with lyrics, chord symbols and guitar fret boards, for a jazz ensemble with two voices, or for one voice and a singing instrument, or for two singing instruments. It serves as a good foundation for a variety of arrangements, contra facts, and improvisations. The audio sample is a medium swing accompaniment from iReal Pro, combined with my tunes from Finale PrintMusic. You hear two melodies with the accompaniment -- a treble electric guitar, and a simulated baritone voice (without the words). A rock version of St. Matthew Blue is also for sale on this web site. St. Matthew Blue portrays an unhappy person coping with the COVID 19 pandemic, which started early in the year 2020. It’s not a blues tune, however, so the word blue is in the title without the s. St. Matthew Blue contains unusual harmonies inspired by J. S. Bach’s opening chorus to the St. Matthew Passion. This tune doesn't match the profundity and appeal of Bach's chorus, but the two 16-bar themes of St. Matthew Blue contain some of my favorite harmonic ideas from Bach’s work. This gives a depth to this piece that sets it apart from other swing tunes. Here are the lyrics to St. Matthew Blue:An evil little bug has got me down.I want to drink a mug of beer in town. But now I get supplies brought to my door From many tries to find an online store.   Self-pity brings to mind St. Matthew’s tale, How Jesus saved our kind from fiery hell. That my soul is safe may well be true, But I still chafe at fighting this damn flu.

Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1023975 By Peabo Bryson And Regina Belle. By Alan Menken. Arranged by Odd Helge Hveding. Film/TV. Score and parts. 27 pages. Oh2Musikk #3056155. Published by oh2Musikk (A0.1023975). How can your trombone quartet gain more audience? By playing with other people. You want your concerts to be well visited and to help you with that, I make arrangements (and compositions) for trombonequartet with guitar, piano, bass and drums. They also contain an optional bass-trombone/ tuba part and sometimes a solo part. This one contains a trombone solo part. This arrangement of A Whole New World, is scored for Solo Trombone in front of the ensemble mentioned above.  There are two solo parts in the set. One high and and one low. You can combine those two if that makes you more comfortable. Durata: 3,5 minutes (approx.) The song itself is about Alladin taking Jasmine on a ride on the magic carpet. The lyrics are all about discovering what you didn’t know about and be grateful for all the adventures life gives. This makes it a perfect piece to play in a variety of places, like weddings, celebrations of any kind, graduations, not to mention many types of concerts. With a few adjustments you can also use parts of this arrangement and make it work. It’s most powerful when you use the whole band, but it still makes a lot of sense if you have to skip some of the parts. There are so many times I have had to skip a piece in a concert, using a not as good substitute, because we didn’t have the people to play it. In this series I have made it easier to still be able to play it, even if you don’t manage to cover every part. Check it out and you’ll understand. Do you want to know more about me and my music? Jazz Combo - Digital Download SKU: A0.481436 By Doug Talley, John Armato, Lisa Henry, and Wayne Hawkins. By Lyrics by John Armato (ASCAP) and Music by Wayne Hawkins (ASCAP). Arranged by Paul Roberts. Jazz. Score and parts. 51 pages. Published by John Armato Enterprises (A0.481436). “At the Trocadero†is an original ballad by John Armato and Wayne Hawkins that tells the story of the now-forgotten Trocadero Club in Kansas City. The form includes call-and-response between the vocalist and the tenor sax, which also functions as a character in the song itself. As a result, the tune offers a fresh diversion from standard-form ballads and allows the musicians plenty of room to express themselves. All music is provided in two keys (the original key of Gb plus the more “friendly†key of F), including: (1) Complete score, (2) Individual parts for piano, bass, guitar, drums, tenor sax, and vocal for full ensembles, (3) Lead sheets in Bb, Eb, and Ab for flexible instrumentation and less structured performance settings, (4) MP3 of the full album performance (Gb only), featuring Lisa Henry on vocals and Doug Talley on tenor, (4) Backstory document.

Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970761 Composed by Mike Strand, ASCAP. Blues,Jazz. Score and parts. 6 pages. Michael M. Strand #6136125. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970761). Mike Strand, ASCAPThis is a lead sheet with lyrics, chords and guitar fret boards, for a jazz group, small, or large, with singer or solo instruments. It serves as a good basis for a variety of arrangements, contra facts, and improvisations. The audio sample is a jazz quintet: A slow swing jazz accompaniment from iReal Pro, combined with my duet tunes from Finale PrintMusic. In this sample, a flute takes the accompaniment (treble clef), with a baritone sax in the bass clef. The main tune (bass clef) is accompanied, making this an unusual duet lead sheet. For example, a flute may accompany a baritone singer. An option is to interchange the voice roles (e.g., main tune octave higher, accompaniment octave lower), or use one of the tunes of the duet by itself. I wrote this piece in honor of immigrants, in recognition of the courage it takes to move to a new country and learn a new language. New immigrants often go through difficulties and setbacks, including persecution from citizens of their adopted country. This, despite the recent immigrant ancestry of most of the persecutors, notably in the USA. In the subtitle of Immigrant Blues, I recognize my own immigrant ancestors, and also Anders LundegÃ¥rd, who, like my paternal grandparents, moved to the USA from Sweden. Anders helped me with this piece, with his reviews and comments. **Here are the lyrics for Immigrant Blues: 1. Moving to the U. S., far away. Life here is so bad, I will not stay. Talked to Mom and Dad, they said OK. I want to make a place for them some day. 2. First time in the States was no picnic. Half the time no work, and I got sick. Some folks try to help, while others scoff. I have friends, but others put me off. 3. Looking bright and able, that’s my plan. Taking ESOL classes when I can. Learning English is no easy chore, And I want my folks here, that’s for sure.   And I want my folks here, that’s for sure. Oh, yeah!
