This 99-page book (including cover and table of contents) also includes a beautiful title page for each song with a brief history and lyrics for the two new hymns. The piano transcriptions are completely written out, including the chords and vocal parts. Several have secondary piano parts included. Also available are individual song downloads and some of the MP3 accompaniment tracks.

Album notes:  My Father’s Favorite Hymns is dedicated to my mom and dad. I have memories of being on the front row of church as a little girl, singing as loud as I could. The album is a tribute to my parents who raised my sisters and I to love God, our country and our families. As many musicians do, I got my start in the church, playing the piano for the Children’s church at the age of 10.

 It didn’t take long before I started sitting at a 9’ Steinway opposite an incredible organist who changed keys as often as a woman changes her clothes. I fell in love with the simplicity of the hymns and with the many fun arrangements that were possible. The lyrics of some of these hymns have been ingrained in my soul and have brought me comfort, deepened my faith, and have taught me that when all is said and done, the Truth and Faithfulness of God are what will carry me through.

The enduring World War II- era standard “It's Been A Long, Long Time� has been recorded by many great artists through the years. More recently, the song has found renewed popularity due to its use in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Avengers� movies. This arrangement takes its cue from the recording by Harry James and his orchestra, and reworks the performance as presented here for Vocal soloist, 3 horns, and Rhythm section. This chart observes the original key and form of the classic recording by Harry James with vocal soloist Helen Forrest. The horn parts closely follow in the footsteps of the original recording, making this a good vehicle to showcase a talented trumpeter. The remaining horns play the supporting role of the most important elements of the large orchestra arrangement which requires strong players on all parts. The Rhythm section/Lead sheet incorporates the chord changes and most important rhythmic elements to allow a flexible instrumentation of rhythm section to adequately feature the trumpeter and vocalist. This arrangement is a great way to showcase talented instrumentalists and vocals on this classic piece of music!

So What's New? was a popular track from the 1966 Herb Alpert Tijuana Brass LP What's Now My Love. It was covered by Bert Kaempfert, Horst Jankowski, Lenny Dee, and many others. A vocal version by Peggy Lee was also popular.

The simple, infectious melody and rhythm of the composition by jazz guitarist Joe Piasano is a treat to the ear and dancing feet.

This small band arrangement (AATB, 2 trp, 1 trombone, 3 rhythm) is easy and fun to perform.

Nica's Dream for little big band. Originally written as a vocal chart, this was premiered at Barbara B Mann performing arts hall in 2017 by the Florida Southwestern State College Jazz Combo. Written for Alto, Tenor, Bari, Trumpet, Trombone, and Rhythm Secion, the Alto takes over as the feature instrument here instead of the vocal. There are some tricky segues making this a perfect college or all state/all county piece. Chords are included on piano and bass part.

Only A Step, Heaven's Call.  A setting of a hymn tune with great funky bebop riff which is simple and groovin at times and also harmonically daring and rich. Big Chords and great nonfunctional Gospel sounding voice leading produces a striking example of the beauty qualities of this astounding gem. Piece includes distinct and unique ideas and vamps and a setting of the hymn tune before concluding. 2 page arrangement is challenging but not overly so, and well worth the effort to learn. Deeply funky tune draws from inspiration in Hezekiah Walker, Chick Corea, Ricky Dillard, Charlie Parker, and Theolonious Monk. It was used for a piano and drum prelude in church, for a moment in time.
