Children's Song composed and arranged by Woodwind teacher and performer Don Turoso is arranged for a front line of three horns with four parts in the rhythm section.  All parts are integrally important.  This was recorded in 2005 on the Cd The Don Turoso Septet.  It is a medium tempo Latin feel with moderate range demands.  A very pretty melody with plenty of open area for solos in an A - B section.  The introduction can also be used as a break section between solos or just on the DC before repeating the head leading to the coda.  I rate this arrangement in the 3-4 range.  Recordings are available, as indicated for purchase or the listen to online.  Look for other Jazz combo, Big Band, Marching Band, and other titles to follow. More recently, the song has found renewed popularity due to its use in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Avengers� movies. This arrangement takes its cue from the recording by Harry James and his orchestra, and reworks the performance as presented here for Vocal soloist, 3 horns, and Rhythm section. This chart observes the original key and form of the classic recording by Harry James with vocal soloist Helen Forrest. The horn parts closely follow in the footsteps of the original recording, making this a good vehicle to showcase a talented trumpeter. The remaining horns play the supporting role of the most important elements of the large orchestra arrangement which requires strong players on all parts. The Rhythm section/Lead sheet incorporates the chord changes and most important rhythmic elements to allow a flexible instrumentation of rhythm section to adequately feature the trumpeter and vocalist.
