This is music meant to be sung, danced to, or crooned to sleepy children, preferably in an age-old log cabin redolent of sweet, mellow resin and many years of comforting fires. As with all her other books, these arrangements are meant to be adjusted to your own playing style. Use them as a stepping-off point for making the arrangement your own, or use some of my ideas in a different song. Consider yourself warned: many Scandinavian tunes are addictive and tend to roll around in your head. The cure for that, of course, is to find another tune to replace the one in your head. And so on....good luck with that.

A marvelous compilation of various tunes all exemplifying the theme of Christ as the Good Shepherd. Most are in the keys of G and D major and have two or three pedal/lever changes. Although most are for harp with melody instrument, some have solo harp versions as well. Solos are simply elegant with intermediate type counting and pedal changes. These are perfect for soft wedding music or other such performances. The harmonies are elegant and absolutely beautiful.

Lutenist Jane Pickering was associated with the court of Henry, Prince of Wales. This piece is from her notebook. Arranged in several ways for harps in various combinations: HARP DUET with 2 equally challenging parts; HARP TRIO with harps 1 and 2 in treble clef only, with some lever changes, and harp 3 as a two- handed accompaniment part. A score is also included for study or conducting. DUET FOR HARP AND OTHER TREBLE INSTRUMENT (i.e. flute, violin or recorder), for pedal or lever harp. The Harp 1 part from the Trio version may also be used as the solo instrument with this version. The music assumes the range of the harp to be from C below middle C to the C above treble clef, and is suitable for most 26-string models with levers on C, F and G. There is a high B-flat that can be tuned ahead or preset with levers if you have them. The parts are of varying difficulty to accommodate the wide range of harp playing and reading abilities. All pedal notations will be found below the staff, and lever changes indicated by diamond-shaped notes.
