Theme in Bb major, and two other sections in G minor and Bb mnor. The end of each minor section is noted Maggiore D.C. Rosamunde, Fürstin von Zypern (Rosamunde, Princess of Cyprus) is a play by Helmina von Chézy, which is primarily remembered for the incidental music which Franz Schubert composed for it. Music and play premiered in Vienna's Theater an der Wien on 20 December 1823 There are 10 pieces of incidental music, this is no 5. Entr'acte No. 3 in B♭ major (Andantino) is one of the two best-known pieces in the score. The main theme was used again in the Impromptu in B♭, Op. 142 (D 935), No. 3. Schubert used an almost identical theme in the second movement of his String Quartet in A minor, D 804. It bears the subtitle cinq pièces enfantines (five children's pieces). Ravel later orchestrated the piece.This is the second movement. I have arranged it for wind quintet. Arranged wind quintet Horn in Bb basso (alt hn in F) The six Kinderstücke, Op 72, along with the separate Andante in E flat major and Sostenuto in F major, were written in 1842 for the children of F W Benecke, a London wool merchant who was the uncle of Mendelssohn’s wife, Cécile (née Jeanrenaud). Exhibiting distinctive characteristics of the Lieder ohne Worte (treble song-like melodies and ternary ABA forms, for example), these pieces belong as well to the category of children’s music, in the tradition, say, of Schumann’s Klavieralbum für die Jugend and Bizet’s later Jeux d’enfants, and evince a naive innocence reflective of their intended audience. Of the eight, Mendelssohn ultimately chose six to shape into Op 72, the last work he saw through the press. It appeared in December 1847, one month after his death, and in England with the designation of ‘Christmas pieces’. This is my arrangement of No.5 Allegro assai.

Grieg: Lyric Pieces Op.38 No.5 Springdans (Spring Dance/Leaping Dance)Lyric Pieces (Norwegian: Lyriske stykker) is a collection of 66 short pieces for solo piano written by Edvard Grieg. They were published in 10 volumes, from 1867 (Op. 12) to 1901 (Op. 71).The collection includes several of his best known pieces, such as Wedding Day at Troldhaugen (Bryllupsdag på Troldhaugen), To Spring (Til våren), March of the Trolls (Trolltog), and Butterfly (Sommerfugl).This is my arrangement  of No.5 Springdans (Spring Dance/Leaping Dance) from his Lyric Pieces Op.38Arranged wind quintetAlthough Spring Dance is the traditional translation of the Norwegian Springdans, the word refers to its sense in English of leap or jump  rather than to the season Spring.  The booklet notes to Grieg: Complete Works for Piano Solo; Gerhard Oppitz, Piano use  the less ambiguous translation Leaping Dance.The melody is taken by clarinet, then oboe then flute.
