He studied at the Leipzig Conservatory in Germany, where he was exposed to the music of leading German composers, such as Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn.Grieg composed a variety of works, including orchestral music, chamber music, songs, and piano pieces. He is best known for his composition “Peer Gynt,� which includes the popular suite “In the Hall of the Mountain King.� Other famous works by Grieg include the Piano Concerto in A Minor and the Holberg Suite.Throughout his career, Grieg was devoted to promoting Norwegian music and culture. Wind Quintet (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn, Bassoon) Duration 2 minutes 35 seconds. 23 Pages This is a fun set of variations on Robert Burns' My Love She's But a Lassie Yet) is sure to entertain in recital, at a Burns Night, St. Andrew's Night or for any occasion where there is a toast to Rabbie or to Scotland.Although Burns wrote the words of the song, he probably set them to a variation of an existing tune called Lady Badinscoth's Reel. This lively arrangement for Wind Quintet starts off with a stately ‘classical’ arrangement of My Love She’s But a Lassie Yet, but as it develops the tune combines with another traditional melody, followed by some operatic quotations, and even a five part fugue. It ends with an embellished restatement of the opening. It is great fun for all players.

Wind Quintet (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn, Bassoon) A great fun and lively arrangement for Wind Quintet.Duration 2 minutes 45 seconds. 28 PagesThis lively set of variations on Robert Burns' The Deil's Awa' Wi' the Exciseman (The devil is away with the tax collector) is sure to entertain in recital, at a Burns Night, St. Andrew's Night or for any occasion where there is a toast to Rabbie or to Scotland. Although Burns wrote the words of the song, he set them to a variation of an existing tune called The Hemp Dresser which dates from the 17th century or earlier. It is a lively jig which is arranged here for Wind Quintet. This wind quintet arrangement begins with oboe and bassoon playing the tune and bass line, almost exactly as they appeared in The Scots Musical Museum, published by James Johnson & Co in six volumes between 1787 and 1803. The other instruments all get the opportunity to play the melodic line in the ensuing 5 verses, as the arrangement gets more complex and fun. The arranger makes great use of the tritone; or devil’s interval as it is often known because of its unsettling presence. However, in this arrangement it merely adds to the fun and excitement.Great fun for all!
